To put electricity in perspective, less than 5% of Americans had access to electrical power in 1899. I don’t think electric vehicles would’ve taken off back then. Lol.

It was these 5% of the population that had money at that time, and they were the main consumers of cars! The popularity of the electric car in the early 19th century in the USA is easy to check, google it yourself

You would be surprised how many people cannot tell. Even when listening to music nowadays, it's all fake, but no one can tell.
