Look at this beautiful.little house. They built them to last in those days! What a sturdy little building! Good thing there were people around who realized that ot could be a Landmark. We are losing our history as quickly as we are evolving! It's okay to appreciate the past, it really is!

My guess on the horseshoe shape on the chimney is that it was the family "mark" when branding livestock. Another guess would be that it was an advertisement for something to do with horses. They used ornaments incorporated onto the rooftops back in the 1500's in England to indicate so you could identify different trades and businesses, from a distance

Really interesting, I research Essex Villages Towns & Churches & post on KZbin, if any folk have descendents come from Essex that would be fascinating to me. This house like all houses is layered in family history, its obviously a lot older than most, yesterday I was in Peldon in Essex, the Pub the Peldon Rose is 15th Century & still folk stoop down through the front door, I love the Coffin reunion photo, all from one couple, now isn't that something. I in years back researched a Church in Essex where Lawrence Washington Preached, he was grandfather to George, when you go in the Church which is Norman, a few pictures of the Washingtons are behind the font, with a big stack of chairs & cobwebs, do typical of England, we're not very good at blowing our own trumpet, thanks for posting

I don’t know about foreigners getting aid to live in Nantucket? The people a worked for that has a house there are millionaires. There is no way foreigners can live there and pay $600 to get their cars to the other side. These people a worked for has four cars. They leave one at the island all summer long. I know there are some Portuguese influence in the are, but very little. The rest of the population are white collar Americans. Not average people, but the very wealthy. Never being there though.
