I miss the OLD dinosaur exhibit before it moved to the crystal. The Dino skeletons used to be displayed in life-like scenes. It was a more exciting and immersive experience in the 80s.

So many great memories from the ROM and the Planetarium. They inspired me with wonder and curiosity. But I still hate the crystal lol

Yeah I preferred it before too loved the original Dinosaur exhibit but they have lots of stuff still in the old part some architecture does not work together though like that fountainhead story wanted mixed modern and classic styles too. Alienated some original patrons though.

The former terraced building was far more appropriate and beautiful than the so called Crystal, which isn't and never was intended to be see through. In fact, the embarrassment has been suppressed by the noticeable lack of archival images of it's pre Liebeskind architorture!

Definitely return the artifacts. Museums could share their exhibits with other nations around the world with consent of the peoples they came from, and returned after a tour. The British Museum is the worst offender. Another great mini doc. Thanks!

You know why the British are the “worst” because most other historical conquerors would have destroyed those artifacts. The British conserved them for us to appreciate

Museums shouldn't give back artefacts, this in itself makes for an interesting piece of history and adds to the authenticity of an exhibit

There is NO value in giving back artefacts. In a nutshell when they are, they are resold into the black market

We hate the useless spaced infinitely ugly American Crystal, but, thank the gods the ROM is still there, and not gone like the Planetarium, no thanks to Evil Mike Harris. Re: artifacts returns; I agree returning many, perhaps not all, artifacts, after copies have been done so ROM visitors can still enjoy the copies here too where and by whom they were originally discovered recovered saved and displayed. The ROM and other museums deserve the thanks of the whole world, including the thanks of those peoples from whom the artifacts came, for what the ROM and other museums have done - because - however wrong the ROM etc sins of the past were obtaining the artifacts, the world would not have these artifacts and cultures and stories to learn about, from, and appreciate all these decades and today and the future.

"We hate the useless spaced infinitely ugly American Crystal". I think you mean "I", not "we". In some ways the building of the addition showed how deeply conservative many people are in Toronto toward new architecture, and how closed many were/are to outside international architectural influences. People who would have LOVED it if they saw it in Paris (and complained that why can't we have things like that in Toronto) were uncomfortable with it being here, and therefore "hated" it. Understandable; it takes generations for people to open up to the rest of the world.

The crystal is ugly. Wouldn't want to see it in Paris either! The fact that it needs renovation in 2024 underlines its bad design.
