*In '60 or '61 when was 6 or 7 my fanily went to a place called 'Grass Lake' in Mi. where there tents set-up ( to-rent I think) and when the sun was setting the mosquitos began to swarm...so many it looked like smoke and they were HUNGRY!* *I panicked from so many on me at once and ran to the car w/sister and the 'rents right behind us and we roared out of there as fast as that Olds could move!*

They got the voices down but Gandy is barely recognizable and Sourpuss is a dog! Love those automatic trailer cartoons.

Sourpuss got the chance to be two animals who antagonise each other in reality!! What a fucking coincidence :)))

For home use only? Was this meant as a 8mm film for toy projectors? I once saw a pay movie projector in a shopping center next to the mechanical horse. It would play old cartoons for a few minutes. Hmmm. That automated trailer looks similar to the one Mickey Mouse had.

I think, this edition wasn't distributed in cinema, but only for homes and residences, what means, old people homes, nursing homes, old people residences. It comes an idea to my mind. The cartoon was made in wartime. Could it be that it should entertain soldiers, that are temporary or permanent in need of care?

8 mm projectors were not always a toy. It was the budget format for amateur filmers. Before the 1950's there was no attempt to integrate sound on 8 mm and when Super 8 came, optical sound was an option, but so bad, that most copies were with magnetic sound. 16 mm is different, it integrated sound pretty early, the loss in sound quality was not very big, maybe 8 kHz instead of 10 or more.

The idea, that trailer and automobile goes different ways, is always funny
