Hey folks, today I had the opportunity to check out the brand new ‘The HMV Shop’ in Canterbury in Kent, on its opening day. Here’s a little look inside the new store plus my thoughts on the new premises.

It looks a good shop . I particularly liked that it had a nice sized Asian part I’m a big fan of all that kind of stuff. Lots of comics too , very nice 👍

We've got a new store opening in Edinburgh next month. We already have a Fopp but now we'll have both. They said that they're focussing more on Vinyl but they'll be having lots of blurays as well.

Here in Coventry we have 1 HMV now (old livery, but it's a large 2 floor store. I've seen on line that a number of stores are reopening/refurbishing/rebranding...including Metro Centre, Hastings, Solihull, Braehead and Oxford 👍👍

Good to see a new HMV opening instead of closing. Don’t have a local one anymore but always support them with a purchase every time I travel to one. It will be a sad day if physical media dies from the high street some of the internet retailers are quite greedy with prices/margins considering lower overheads like zavvi.

The Stockport store does feel a bit dark. its nice to see a bright store, much better. Oh and thanks for showing the Scorpions latest album.

That store actually was there since 1990 the old store not 1990 as the original anchor was Mothercare who relocated to the out of town retail park at Wincheap. Cotswold Furniture have taken the old HMV store which is why they relocated to the Monsoon / Accessorize unit.

I realy like hmvs new shop interiors the old interiors feel slightly dated they havent had a rebrand since 2008 so its nice too see

Interesting - I often visited the old HMV store - good that they have opened a new store - it looks a bit smaller and the refit seems to have been done on the cheap. I hope it does well.

Before they moved did they have a sale and if so did you pick up anything? The problem with bigger stores is looks like more partially because they have 20 copies of the same title!!! No lunch today?

Looks like Sunrise Records (Parent Company) has modeled the new HMVs after their Canadian counterpart.

For a minute there I thought they stole the image on their bag from the US's RCA ads from the 1920's, but then I saw another ad with the same picture and the tagline His Masters Voice, so I'm guessing thats where HMV may have come from... I wonder if it was a US or UK company first?

Hi Pauly. The new store looks lovely, really well laid out. Went to my HMV in Portsmouth on Monday looking for Galaxy of Terror but they didn't get any delivered. Really glad you picked it up. Its a fun b movie sci-fi horror film with Erin Moran, (happy days) and Freddie Kruger himself Robert England in an early role. Hope you like it. Look forward to the next video 😊

Galaxy of terror is a cult classic pauly it is one of many Alien rip offs that came out in the early 80’s and was produced by b movie legend Roger Corman. I picked this up myself and am really looking forward to watching it 😎

The new store looks really good, looks really well laid out as well. Does the American sweet section have any 3 musketeers by any chance? I can never find those, they're my favorite American chocolates. I'll probably be grabbing one of those bags when I go in next time, it looks pretty cool. King Richard was a great performance from Will Smith, one of his best performances of the passed few years. Nice of you to grab it for Jamie.

from that video its not that impressive way too spread out . really didn't understand your comments on the cd section if i was looking looking for say jazz i would go to that section now i would have to wade through the whole cd section. good video though
