So which plate do you like best? I'm liking that foamless fr4 combo, myself! Looks absolutely beautiful! And your production value is on point, my friend! Every video is better than the last! Keep em coming!

Sincerely appreciate the kind words mentioned. For the preferred plate, honestly I can see why you say fr4. I think in the grand scheme of things fr4 may be my route as well. Currently on Alu and have had it this way for the past week to see how it’s holding up. It’s an excellent board nonetheless!

I just learned about 40% keyboards recently. I love the idea of stripping off the number row and F key row because i use those keys so rarely anyways. Do the special characters (ie: ! @ # $ etc) normally mapped to shift + number row work with the numpad on this layout? Also, i feel like a southpaw layout (numpad on the left) would be the true ideal build of this for me. So i can crank on spreadsheets and quickbooks while using the mouse
@DestenShengАй бұрын
Welcome to the channel, and thanks for the comment. I definitely hear you. I never knew how much I’d enjoy not having the f row or num row. Once I got the hang of layers it made life so easy. For the numpad. It’s standard but you can use Vial which is what I immediately did to add those special characters when pressing shift. For arrows and others like “ : , ; , ‘, and “ “ I used a separate layer so when I press Fn, it acts as a shift when I hit the other keys I mapped. It’s a very well done board, that will offer more layouts when it releases. I absolutely hear you on the southpaw. I have the Flip 6p from daring run which is apart of the same company. It’s basically a Hola with the num row up top. And that you can flip to southpaw with the numpad on the left. Just a recommendation as the Hola is fixed with numpad to the left with how the Pcb is
@tonydeveyra4611Ай бұрын
@@DestenSheng Yeah, I go back and forth about whether or not to have a numpad attached, or just have a separate numpad. One of the nice things about the 40 keyboard is that it's so compact and portable. Having the numpad attached would detract from that. I also just found numpads with small screens that can be used as handheld calculators, entirely separate from the PC. Another point in favor of the separate numpad, I think.
@DestenShengАй бұрын
@@tonydeveyra4611 yeah the 40 by itself would be a solid pick up, there’s tons of numpads you that are out now a days and I feel they’re only getting better and better. Hope you’re having a good day, and thanks for the feedback. The numpad with a screen sounds like something intriguing for sure!

i was absolutely sleeping at the time and the Hola is my first keyboard being smaller than a 60%. a bit getting used to with the layout but starting to get the hang of things after remapping layers using Vial. Thanks for the comment, welcome to the channel!

@@DestenSheng The colors mainly as well as the size and design. The sharp edges with minimal curves. Everything about it is the complete opposite of what I would want. It looks like a 200 dollar brick. I think most of all what offends me is the price. The bottom looks great but most will never see it. Granted it sounds nice and you did a great job building it. This is not a knock at your skills. I just don't like the keyboard.. I agree.. To each their own. This thing looks atrocious to me but if you are enjoying it than power to you! :D

@@JBC_cat sincerely appreciate how you worded things. Just wanted to know to get an idea since we all enjoy different things and have different preferences. I do feel like the bottom is my favorite part of the board and as you mentioned won’t be seen most of the time. Since it’s a first for me and the shape I didn’t really have much expectation, and the simple side profile and thin edges are something I always enjoy, especially on boards like the Neo65 and others similar with the thin profiles. Always a pleasure to share thoughts with others, again I appreciate you comment. Thank you for the compliments as well on the build. Wanted to keep things simple
