Hey @KevinDeal Next time you use it (if there is a next time :) also cover the small window from wich you can read the number of shots, that helps alot! Just uncover it a bit wen you need to see the numbers again, not letting direct sun or lots of light direct to it.

You can use fill flash for back lit shots with a Holga. B mode is great for taking pics of Christmas lights or traffic at night!

Great tip! Yeah. We didn’t have flash the first time around. I’m learning on this Holga journey. It’s a cool little camera.

Glad you enjoyed it! It's a fun camera to mess around with. Only $30 on Amazon. Can't go wrong with that.

If I shoot a roll through my Holga I usually end up with 3 shots where I forgot to take the lens cap off, 1 double exposure, 3 shots were I forgot to change from Mountain to Two People, 1 shot unidentifiable, 3 shots that are OK and one wasted frame because I thought I was at the end of the roll. No light leaks though!

You fared better than I did. It's a quirky camera, for sure.

In the right hands, Holgas can produce some amazing shots... but you have to understand its limitations and work within those limitations to turn them into strengths. I recommend watching Martin Henson's Holga videos, it might help you. www.youtube.com/@martinhensonphotography

Since I am a control freak who does not tolerate having my images ruined by a camera's quirky defects, I have eliminated the light leaks in the two Holgas I own and use.

I overcame this problem by going back to my other cameras. Lol.

@@KevinDeal I cannot do the same because my two Holga cameras are the only medium format cameras I have that produce 6x12cm images on roll film.

Can you share tips that you used to eliminate light leaks for the poster & others? I haven’t had light leaks, either, but I’ve seen people put tape on the back cracks of camera instead for light leaks. I also have the Holga version with built in flash, colour flash & glass lense, so idk if it was just built lightly different to prevent less light leaks.

@@BoxOfShockolates 1. I avoid loading my film in bright sunlight. I load my film in a dimly lit room at home. 2. After I load my camera with film, I put black electrical tape or black gaffers tape over the flimsy latch to prevent the camera back from accidently opening. 3. I put black tape over the red window and only remove it when I need to advance the film. 4. When the camera is loaded with film, I keep the camera back cracks covered with black tape. 5. When I am not shooting, I keep the lens covered with a lens cap. 6. When I am not shooting, I keep the pinhole covered with a piece of black tape.

Like every other type of camera, you need to learn how to get the best out of it. I shoot mainly black and white and have gotten some amazing dreamy results. Don't expect Leica quality. Just have fun with it. Holga fans always say there are no bad Holga shots.

thankfully, i only paid a little over $30 for it. My film costs more than the camera. Lol
