I just found your channel a few days ago, and girl, I am BINGEING your content. You seem like a total natural in front of the camera. There are tons of true crime YTers out there, but only a small percentage of them are able to be entertaining & engaging while also genuinely respectful and compassionate. You are definitely one of those who are doing it right!

What an awful story….that poor family. Their dad (and husband) was incredibly strong having to go through all this. That kind of grief is something I wouldn’t wish upon my worst enemy. I was happy to hear he’s married and has a son now.

I’ll never forget this story as long as I live. I’m still infuriated at the police response, or lack thereof, I should say. Thank you for covering this. Have you ever covered the Boston murder of Carol (DiMaiti) Stuart? That’s another infuriating story that sticks in your mind forever. And what her family went through especially after the truth came out. No mystery where Carol’s enormous heart came from, as her family did try to make something good come from this insane tragedy after all the damage done to the community as a result of the lies told by her killer. Thanks again for the amazing content and brilliant makeup lessons!

I’ve heard this story before, but I hadn’t heard all of the details about the two sweet girls and the whole family. I didn’t even realize it was the same case until you mentioned the “hold your horses” and “the horses are ready to get loose” or whatever the hell else was said in the text message exchange between these losers. Thanks for covering more information about the victims and their backgrounds. I can’t help but to be so beyond mad at the police for not going in sooner, and for letting Stephen TAKE JENNIFER BACK IN THE DAMN HOUSE after they got back from the bank. WTF. This reminds me a little of the Uvalde School shooting case where children and teachers were being attacked and the cops were just being cowards and standing outside on standby. So beyond senseless and sad.

I'm not saying anything about people who undergo sex changes. However, I don't think a criminal in jail for the rest of his life should have that opportunity and that luxury to do that! there's people who really want that surgery that cannot afford it, and for him to be in PRISON using tax payers money to get a surgery like that.. It should not even be in the cards. No!! Should have thought about that before forfeiting your freedom committing such a violent crime 🙄🙄

Hi Zara I too am a Victorian and served as a member of Vic Police. I totally understand people’s frustration with police when they just appear to be watching. We follow a chain of command and when command have a policy of Cordon and Contain that’s what we must do. This policy has been very much been restricted and have adopted a more respond before it escalates approach which I totally agree with. Ps you do a great job.

Law enforcement practice caution in a hostage situation. However, I agree they should have intervened before Steven returned from the bank with Jennifer. Almost certainly, without Josh and Steven having each other to collaborate at the end, the family would be alive. It’s sad, and surprising, that Jennifer underplayed the scenario while at the bank. She must have truly believed it was only money, and that they would be okay.

Great video, Zara! This was such a sad case. I was so confused as to why this robbery escalated to murder, SA, physical abuse, and arson. I don’t understand why they automatically turned so violent and so cold in mere hours. It’s such a disappointing and heartbreaking end to a beautiful, loving family. Hopefully, the father is doing well, and was given the support he deserved. May the mother and children rest in peace. *side note* Even though Steven is a criminal, it’s still important to use the correct pronouns. I understand that she’s committed an awful crime, but gender identity doesn’t change based on actions.

Steven shouldn’t get rights to transition after what he did. Instead of getting the death penalty he gets to live out the rest of his life doing what he wants. The system is a joke. 🙄
@melanie39582 жыл бұрын
I get the problem with the death penalty (is someone really guilty? Might they be put to death and In the end they were innocent?) But in cases like this, where its obviously clear what happened and who’s responsible, they should get the death penalty. There should be no if and why and whatever. No months of trial and wasting money on these people. You plan to kill someone (and it wasn’t an accident or self defense) you deserve to die. It’s like you said, in prison they can still live a life. They don’t deserve it. And I’m sure the majority of people are afraid to die and would rather spend their lives in a prison, where they are fed and have a warm bed and somewhat in social interaction, then being put to death.

I watched a documentary on this awful case a few years ago. This was one of the toughest documentaries to get through and I watch a lot of True Crime. Just hearing the details was heartbreaking. The family members speaking about this beautiful family and hearing the anguish in their voices while recalling the events of this night was absolutely devastating.💔😢 Listening to that disgusting evil man calling Michaela by her nickname, (her family's nickname for her) in court was infuriating! PS: the family's name is pronounced like Pet-it.

I think they only asked her to get out $15,000 so it didn't look extra suspicious like if she went in there to drain the whole account that would look super suspicious but they also probably don't know anything over $10, 000 is a red flag so they should have kept it at 9,000.00 or below or not done this at all would have been a great plan

SOo *_deeply_* tragic. The monsters who did this to *The Petit Family* should not be allowed to survive. Instead, they are getting free room and board for the rest of their lives, while their victims were forced into the Gates of Heaven. it’s insane that the one guy [Stephen], a creepy, disgusting old man, is given the opportunity to transition, that The People are footing the bill for his hormonal treatments…. WtF. So, now what, this repulsive old man, who ЯAPED and killed, is now becoming a female? Will he get to transfer to a female prison, ta’boot? Meanwhile → it is happy to hear that *William Petit* was able to _somehow_ move forward after this horrific event, by creating a beautiful new life, while continuing to honor his original family’s ruin.

There is life after death. No one gets away with their crimes. We will all stand before Almighty God and give an accounting of what we have done on earth. And the fact that one of them wants to be a girl, does that mean our tax dollars pay for it. And tax dollars are keeping these monsters alive, feeding them, keeping them warm, giving them entertainment etc. That is despicable. Absolutely disgusting. So William is basically supporting the bastards that murdered his family. That should not be allowed. If you deliberately take a life from this earth, your life should also be taken. It won't make William feel better, but the criminal does NOT deserve to live while the victims are dead. There is no justice anymore. These monsters belong in hell.
