Thanks for a great session! A question for the next round: Why do we not have a universal RF app, which can learn RF signals - and the learned signals can then be stored as building blocks for flows (WHEN, AND and THEN)? For instance: My Jysk Huglo curtains use RF signals and I have found that the Brel app in Homey can control these curtains which is great. However, when someone manually uses the RF remote, Homey/the Brel app does not use this signal to set a status for my curtains... So basically Homey doesn't know whether my curtains are up or down, if someone uses the RF remote. It would be awesome, if we had the possibility to make Homey learn a RF signal and then when that signal is detected (WHEN) do something (like setting a status for your curtains in a variable).

Map view: I think the only solution is to display devices by category and by brand. You never need to see every device in every room at once. But it is very useful to be able to see the location of a device, or maybe all the switches, or lights, or devices with low battery, or devices with lost connection, etc.

Expect to see:- Homey Pro dashboard on LG Smart TVs in 2024 and beyond.However, the potential for deep integration is significant. Potential Features and Considerations Based on the strengths of both platforms, we expect to see the below possibilities: *Basic Control:* Controlling lights, thermostats, and other devices directly from the TV seems likely. *Scene Control:* Preset scenes like "Movie Night" or "Wake Up" could be activated with a simple button press. *Visualizations:* Real-time data like temperature, humidity, or energy consumption could be displayed graphically. *Voice Control:* Integration with LG's ThinQ AI for voice commands could enhance user experience. *Security Integration:* Displaying live camera feeds (PIP) or arming/disarming security systems might be feasible. Challenges and Limitations: *WebOS Capabilities:* The extent of the integration will depend on WebOS's flexibility and performance. *User Interface:* Designing a user-friendly interface on a TV screen presents unique challenges. *Data Privacy:* Ensuring secure handling of home automation data is crucial. Expectations for the future are that it's reasonable to expect a growing integration between Homey Pro and LG Smart TVs, including HUB and dashboard.

I think you have missed one aspect of adapting apple car play. Once you are in your car and apple car play is active you no longer get notifications, so if I leave my gate open I don’t get a visible notification. If notifications could be made visible through apple car play that would be fantastic.

Simple feature request idea, when we get notified about an OS or App update, could the notification link to the OS revision page or App page? It would be nice to see what was changed without having to go google the page each time.

Awesome podcast. Keep it up! I’m curious for the dashboard that looks good and I can run on a wall panel. Have been waiting for this for a long time. Regarding the map: my robot vacuum from ECOVACS makes a very good 3D map and has great map building features. Perhaps use these type of integrations or the LiDAR from your smartphone to do similar?

Is there plans for emporia energy support?
@sofialotussen4 ай бұрын
Reg the "map" solution. I think this would be a very good thing for people who aren't "open" to smart things and have a hard time getting used to smart home set-ups. (Talking from experience with a smart home and many visitors and a partner who id not a fan) For this I think even having just a simple solution would be fine. As in only lights and sockets. And then clicking on the TV or kitchen (complex area) would just take you in to that area in the regular Homey setting.
@sofialotussen4 ай бұрын
Thought a bit more about this and as it is now all pointers in the apps are descriptive I'm words. So you need to name things carefully for people to find and understand. With a map you just need to know the location of the smart device.

Will it be possible to use the homey bridge with an early 2016 as a satalite?
@Jack.Shakesbeard4 ай бұрын
On Android Car topic. Actually yeah, it might not make too much sense to control devices from the car considering voice control is available if you want to use that. But it might be interessting to consider more like a dashboard view. Which would of course need to be customizable. Like a separate car view maybe ^^

Will there be an (official) app for NFC for the Homey PRO 2023?
@mnoijens4 ай бұрын
there is no NFC chip in the Pro 2023. The older Homey's had an NFC chip, Microphone and 868Mhz Antenna, those are left out of the newer Homey Pro's.

Love the podcast idea and the information you guys can give, but please give some love to the audio processing. You use radio mics but looks like no radio processing. Emiel is low in volume in the beginning and the presenter high. As a sound engineer I found this a mist opportunity to make your podcast more professional. Other thing is that I really love the way of thinking the product needs to be explained by emiel, but hope it will be in the future after LG gets the other 20%. But on the other hand, I would love to see LG products with a homey interface in it to control my house/ products.

About programmable LED: People seems not to realy miss that functionality... It depends on who you ask. You're sounding like those companies that have lost their prominent market position, because they where sure the endusers didn't need some functionality. First the NFC (I found a workaround), but now missing the build-in speaker and LED holds me of buying the most recent gen. Homey controller.

Thanks for this podcast, I really liked it. Next time a life one where we can ask questions and respond to some of them. I own one of the first Homey's and I am still super happy with her/him. I moved to Down Under but it still works on all the devices i have or purcharged here in Aussie. Athome warned me that it might violate the use of homey's as for bandwidth or so in other countries but after 8 years no problem whatsoever. as I don't have the same amount of time back in the day's to create and investigate create new flows apps or add new devices, it is really nice that after so many years my Homey still works flawless, thanks thanks thanks. I do have a question, is there a comparison like the first homey against the newest homey? what can the newest homey do what the old Homey can't do and what can the new homey not do what the old homy still can do. Kind Regards, Ronald Peters
@Ronald01Peters4 ай бұрын
I reply on my own , as it might be nice to know what I use Homey for at the moment. My main use is that I have Philips and ikea lights. i press one button and all the lights that I need turn on or off thue on the the Philips switches, I can also use the same device to dim or brighten them. I also have Ikea motion sensors in my house and outside. the ones inside i mainly use for the night, to turn on lights in the hallway and living room towards the toilet, it turns them on and after a while they turn of. there is a bit more into this but that is just the basics to share. Homey also let me know if there is someone at the front door and sends a picture to my apple watch and homey speaks out that there is someone at the front door, with blinking light on my dressoir from the ikea lights, ( just in case I have the music to loud). When I get up in the morning 05:30 weekdays the koffy is ready at the time I have set it ( did this 6 years ago and not changed it ;-) ) it also let me know by one of the Philips lights in the living room that it is below 5 degrees celsius and I might have to deIce my car window. ( Yes even here in Junee NSW Australia it will go below 0 degrees celsius ) By a bleu cold looking Philips light, and believe me this has worked all the times and saved me coming to work to late all the times. When I come home and it is already dark and no lights are on then homey takes care of me by turning on the driveway light and after a minute or so it also turns on the patio light and some lights inside the house, very helpful. last one but certainly not the last one I run with Homey is the one when I go to work weekdays. when I leave my pre set area, everything I set, like coffee machine socket, lights and alarm will be activated or turned off. there is heaps more Homey do for me but I am sure it's too much to mentioned here.

This is a reaction to LG aquiring of Homey. I've been a homey user since the launch, i saw tthe starting pains of a new product, and i've seen homey trive in the smarthome marked. Convinced colleages to buy homey as well.. Ive bought about a hundred of sensors and smarthome products based on what homey supports., . Iput my trust in the privacy statement Athom stood for. now..I feel gutted and betrayed by this move. You do not sell LG and say your data is safe. LG has a bad bad reputation about this. ( i also refer to louis rossman videos) recently i bought a homassistant yellow, and the migration has been really fun and easy.
@LD-DK4 ай бұрын
Have a talk with Louis Rossman about LG’s privacy policy. They harvest and sell data on their smart TV. So a big thank you from me as a customer. I missed a product in my house harvesting everything we do. Soon we will get bills if we want to use webapp and the online parts. Mark my words. You already started taking money for funktion on the previus model. I get why you sell out. Money doesnt smell. But still sellouts.

The idea of 'Big whales' buying small businesses are to some extent what often, directly or indirectly, drives innovation and risk-taking. That does not mean that the end result is always better for the consumer, like many other business decisions. But being against that on a generic level is basically being against capitalism
