It might have a short bed, but thanks to the unibody structure design, you can actually fit some pretty wide things in the back between the wheel wells. This Ridgeline in Black Edition has some unique cosmetic upgrades as well. See what there is to know before you buy!

Just traded my 17 for a 21 this last October. I loved the 17,but liked the new front end, so traded up. My cousin has also had 2, which is why I got my 17 originally. Great and under-appreaciated vehicle. Most of those critics about its towing and off-road ability are people who will buy a Raptor and yet not tow or off-road in it. Let them be insecure, and we can enjoy a great truck in our Hondas.

Nice review, but it seems that every review of the 2nd generation Ridgeline complains about the “fake” seam between the C pillar and the bed. It’s actually a real seam, since the bedside is bolt-on and replaceable without any cutting and welding. A distinctive advantage in my opinion.

I had a 2020 and honestly it was one of the best vehicles I’ve ever owned. Quick, handled great, super versatile and great mileage. The only reason I got rid of it was I need something that towed more. If money permits I’ll add another one back to the fleet.

Just bought a 2022 Sport...sliver/black...love it...so far 21-28 mpg at the pump...and the computer was pretty close. The reason Honda no longer has the no seam body is very simple...it was a repair nightmare... Have a dent in the bed large enough that the body panel had to be replaced it was very difficult and expensive repair...

I have a 2009 Ridgeline that I absolutely love, and for many of the reasons presented here. With only regular maintenance and replacing wear items, it drives like it did when new. Watching this video convinced me to keep on driving my 13 year old truck; it has 95% of what the new version offers without a $45k price tag. Maybe someday I’ll get a new Ridgeline, but for now I’m sticking with my ‘09.

I have a 2023 and I really like it. It's been fun to go back to previously visited places in the desert and get up to trailheads and points-of-interest that I couldn't get to in my RAV4. I'm not going to say that this thing is the greatest off-roader around but it really works for the low-intensity stuff that I do, mainly dirt roads that are too beat up to use in the RAV4 that I previously owned. A couple weekends ago I went down into a bowl off the main road, parked, and did some hiking. In the last 15 minutes of my hike, a freak storm rolled in. Where I parked was easy to get into but when I got back to the truck, the only way out was a muddy rutted road with enough slope that it was pretty sketchy, I was really worried about getting out of there. I selected mud-mode and got up out of it a lot easier than I expected. In my old RAV4, that would've really been a problem!

My honda ridgeline 2021 survived after 5 month off road work uphill and downhill million times a day... in the icy winter time, I am very proud of her. Yes, the clearance stopped her once due to the heavy snow, well it stopped every car on site... the only complain is that the trunk is too shallow, with the trunk cover, it leaves me only an embarrassing foot high. if only Honda could raise the side walls for couple of more inches😃

@@frandanco6289 the absence of the wheel well makes up for the shallow bed. Anyway, the Ranger or any mid size can't lay 4x8 plywood or drywall flat and the swing gate is awsome when unloading cargo. I was also able to put more 6ftx8ft fence panels on my Ridgeline than my long bed Tacoma.

The bed is very shallow with the cover on. Here is a hint though: the TRUNK that is under the bed is deeper than the bed itself. A 5-gallon metal fuel tank that would not fit under the cover fits great inside the trunk, you can fit two in there with room to spare! Huge and deep trunk.

I just bought a 22 RTL-E Ridgeline and man I’m thrilled with it. So versatile, smooth and just great value compared to other mid size trucks. Yeah it isn’t going to out climb a Tacoma over boulders but it can still get you through lots of nasty off road terrain with its combination of smart traction, grippy tires and overall power. But I mean honestly 97% of us won’t even be joyriding in those types of sketchy backwoods anyway with this. Nice review.

2021 RTL-E owner Note that the heater has supposedly 4 heat cycles. Note that there is NO difference between floor/defrost and floor. When you select FLOOR it continues to send heat to the defroster (and floor). Compound this with a very small floor outlet and it makes for cold feet in our -30F climate. Not an issue for most. However, my wife and I go up to the Canadian Border to our off-grid place once a month and now wear electrically heated socks to counteract this design flaw as we drive up there. The dealer says that is intentionally designed that way. Also note the very small floor heater outlet which compounds the issue. Also, note (not an issue for most folks) you may NOT put a winch on that frame. You may use a hitch mounted temporary winch in the rear as an alternative, but a disappointment for me, but not for most. Also, the 18-inch tires are too small for a truck that tries to be a “big boy” truck. I like the truck as I do drive in the city mostly, but if you are looking for something more rugged, I would look elsewhere. Bear in mind that a hybrid version is probably “right around the corner” which will have better resale once the chip issue settles down. The navigation is not good. Just today, I had to use my Google app on the hone to counteract the incorrect directions on the RTL-E. Overall, it has a wonderful ride and does haul loads as stated.

If it drives/and rides like the Passport, then the 5000 lb towing capacity is the only thing that would make me pause. I put a deposit on one, an RTL-E version, and should have it in a few weeks. Crazy market is the worst part! Due to the supply chain issues there were none at the dealer, and no cars at all in the same color so I'm not sure what it will look like. It's a Honda though and they never look horrible, it seems to be their philosophy to blend in with the surroundings. It's a seller's market for cars right now, so it cost a bit more than I'd like to pay, but with two late model used cars to trade I'll probably forget about that once I get my hands on it if it's as good as this and other reviewers are saying. No off-roading in my future unless there's a horrible accident, so I'll take the more comfortable ride and enough bed space to haul my suburban gardening supplies.

The truck you're reviewing took a light front-end hit on the driver's side. At 1m25s, the entire front on the driver's side is pushed slightly in and down. At 2m14s, the driver's side headlight is pushed in and doesn't line up with the leading edge of the fender.

Bought my 2018 B.E.used last year, and love the little bugger. My bride has a 2019 4Runner, and the Honda is SO much nicer. You're in the snow in your video, I'm surprised you didn't mention or hit harder the adaptive transmission settings. (Normal, Snow, Sand, etc.) I live in the high Sierra and use the 'snow' setting all winter on bad roads. WOW is all I can say. It's like having chains but without the hassel. Worth the price for that alone. (IMHO)

Great review..”this is a pickup truck without all the clumsiness of a pick up truck” that’s my exact sentiment when driving my 21’ Blk edition in Blk, yup identical twin to ur example here, so unless u do a lot of towing over 5k lbs which is entirely wrong class of truck all together here or serious off road OFTEN 🤔, then is a no brainer. Better cold start, adaptive cruise control, no ventilated seats in US and slightly less expected mpg (20.8 over 7k miles with occasional light towing) are my only gripes.

I call BS on the "clumsiness of a pick up truck" ... I know of no pick up trucks that are clumsy, perhaps the Driver is the clumsy one....
@DasChristoff
@DasChristoff 2 жыл бұрын
Correct. Most pickups are clumsy, bulky and uncomfortable all around. I’ve owned several tacos and just traded my tundra for a 2022 RL black edition. I’m getting 23 city/27hwy mpg. Can’t tell you how happy I am with the Ridgeline. Hands down best midsized truck on the market!!! I find it comical those who bash this truck are the ones who drive lifted f150s that never tow, never Offroad and bought their gas guzzling grocery getter out of “I want it” rather than “I need it”. I guess some men think that driving a big truck makes up for their shortcomings in other areas(not fooling anyone lol) 🤦‍♂️

Drove a 22 a couple weeks ago. Nice ride should've drove it home it was gone the next day. Still don't have another one in town. If i still did construction I'd look at another manufacturer for a truck. But for daily driver camping trail riding it's perfect. My next vehicle for sure, love how the B.E. looks. Interior needs an update but whatever, it's modern enough so not a dealbreaker. Nothing else does what the Ridgeline can do in terms of an overall package. Serves the overwhelming majority of people's needs for a truck. Unless you need to tow more than 5k or do serious off roading, you'd be pretty dumb to buy any other truck.

@@frandanco6289 what’s the alternative a Ranger? Hell no lol. I’d never spend $45k for an equally equipped vehicle that will bounce me around all day with super stiff suspension, or feel cramped inside a narrow cabin. Not to mention, the Ridgeline has the highest payload in the class when you compare it to any other luxury trim 4x4 crew cab in the midsize market. Oh and if youre towing more than 5k lbs with a midsize, you’d be dumb and borderline unsafe not to upgrade to a half ton truck - regardless of the manufacturer rating, you cant beat physics.

2021 RTL-E owner with 12,000 miles so far. Note that the heater has supposedly 4 heat cycles. Also, the 18-inch tires are ALL SEASON too small for a truck that tries to be a “big boy” truck. I like the truck as I do drive in the city mostly, but if you are looking for something more rugged, I would look elsewhere. Bear in mind that a hybrid version is probably “right around the corner” which will have an unknown impact on resale value once the chip issue settles down. The navigation is not good. Just today, I had to use my Google app on the hone to counteract the incorrect directions on the RTL-E. Missing the AWD gauge that my CR-V Touring Model had… this does not (why not?). One other thing, is the Inverter box on the passenger side of the truck bed is supper cheap plastic with a latch that is prone to wear. Overall, it has a wonderful ride and does haul loads as stated. We drive it mostly in the city and on paved freeway roads, but when we go off grid up North, it is great to have. I've actually gotten as high as 27MPG on econ mode on the freeway with no stop and go with an empty bed.

@@pagodad8079 I wish I could put a photo here. I bought a hitch extender from etrailer and hauls lumber, trusses and more in one load from Minneapolis to my off grid place 2 miles from BWCA. No issues at all. The guy at Menards initially refused to load the trusses saying they wouldn't fit. Proved him wrong. I do wish I could attach a winch to it though. I use electric socks for the floor heater issue in sub zero longer trips.

I like the ridgeline but I just can't justify the 10k difference in price compared to other trucks in it's class. The price hike for the upper tier styles is way over the other trucks top tier pricing. Not spending 45 to 50k on a mid size truck when I can go with a full size truck, bigger bed and same gas mileage. Honda really needs considering lowering their price and be more competitive with other trucks in the same class
