Lived there for 15 years, moved in 2017. The town will always be one of the loves of my life. It didn't feel the as awesome by the time I left though. A lot of locals were getting pushed out of town limits and that just changes the vibe right off the bat. I always found a way to live within blocks of main street, but as the years passed that got harder and harder. I feel very grateful to have experienced it when I did, it was truly a priceless experience. I met so many amazing people and I loved how I could get into nature quickly, just a short walk from my door. I enjoyed your footage :)

Thank you SO much! This is a very special place for sure. I love that I can ride my bike and be on the most fun and beautiful trails I could ever dream of. I really appreciate your comment. Hope you still get to come back and visit.

A lot has changed since then but one thing remains...it's still a great place to live and visit if you love the outdoors.

Former Breckenridge resident here. Agreed with all your points, except for the food. It was not great for the price. Additional pros and cons. Pro: The moon can be seen brighter at night due to the high elevation. Con: Long tourist seasons, and tourists were rude and unfriendly. Pro: Frisco has good amenities such as Walmart, and public buses were free when I lived there. Con: Everybody thinks you're a snob if you live in Breck. Pro: The locals are happy once all the tourists leave. I am now happily living in another mountain town in Utah and do not plan to return to Breck. Mountain life is something you have to get the hang of, but once you do it becomes addictive. I'm turning 40 this year and would not live any other lifestyle.

Thanks for your insight! I agree with the moon, nothing better than taking a walkout night under the moon lit sky surrounded by the snowy mountains. And yes the busses are still free. The Summit Stage bus system is great! Thanks for watching! Cheers to mountain life!

I’ve lived in Breckenridge for 15 + years. Most stores and restaurants will give you a local’s discount when they get to know you.

Quick question, how is the crime there?

I'll refer you to this website coloradocrimestats.state.co.us/tops/ for the most accurate crime statistics. Personally, it's not something that's a concern or top of mind, but I do lock my car and house but I would do that anywhere. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

True, but all the ski-resort towns in CO are the same. Some people have "cheap" condos they own just so they have a place to stay when they go there in the winters (and may rent it out the rest of the time). Of all the "challenges (cons) she mentioned of living in a town like Breckenridge, there's no way I could overcome the "challenge" of condo/house prices. So for me , I'd just be a visitor. Like a transient, perhaps holding a "Will work for food" sign outside the City Market (Kroger) there. ;-) For a place in CO to live every day, however, for me it'd be Colorado Springs -- even though it's also expensive (given the still-insane housing market and high mortgage interest rates we've been seeing and still are presently), it's still WAY cheaper in the Springs than Breckenridge...or the other ski resorts like Steamboat Springs, Aspen, Vail, Crested Butte...and a bit cheaper even than some of the "normal" cities like Boulder (probably most expensive) and Denver (2nd place expensive). CA has its expensive places (Mammoth Lakes) and Utah (Park City)...so it seems "mountain living" is generally pricey in most places. Some mountain locations though -- like southern NM (Cloudcroft and Ruidoso) are VERY affordable...not so Los Alamos/White Rock in northern NM. Still, cheaper towns with the SAME elevations and snow-seasons ARE out there. Just not the ones like Breckenridge! -- BR

Thanks for your reply. Yes the resorts are expensive, but there are options if you live and work in the County. There are deed restricted properties that are available for people who live and work here. You have to qualify and not all the restrictions are the same. These properties are less expensive than most of the properties here. Smith Ranch is a deed restricted neighborhood for example in Silverthorne.

@@ColoradoMtnRealEstateTV Thanks for the response. :-) I'm retired and on a fixed income, so I wouldn't be looking for any employment opportunities (I'd take my $$ with me). I'm not TOO "poor" for a single person but definitely not "Breckenridge Qualified" (if you will). Also, I'm not criticizing or railing against the high-priced properties there -- even if *I* can't afford one myself -- because that's just how it ALWAYS is pretty much anywhere in the more desirable states/cities -- or ski resorts (!) -- that people want to live in. So high prices is a given. There's just no way my "limited' income could qualify for pretty much anything there in Breckenridge -- so I'll stick to Colorado Springs, thank you. That is, I mean in 2 years when I hope the housing market there in the Springs -- WAY cheaper than Breckenridge of course, even now -- make home-buying more affordable to us "average" folks ("rich people" exempt of course). Not to mention WAY lower mortgage interest rates by late 2025...IF that's at all possible... ;-) However, I WOULD be an occasional "road trip" visitor to Breckenridge (stay at a hotel for a few days) as it's a very nice/scenic and authentic "Colorado vibe" kind of place for sure (and the other CO ski-resort towns as well). -- BR
