In the 1950s, a Swiss geologist conducted the first geological survey of Nepal, covering 14,000 kilometers over eight years. Beyond rocks, he became fascinated by the people, documenting their culture and diversity. Despite geopolitical tensions with India, he research impressed Nepal's government. He later worked with Tibetan refugees, pioneering the Tibetan carpet industry. Despite facing challenges and expulsion in 1962, his legacy lives on.

Damn man a Swiss born guy did this much for my county and I never knew about it. It is a shame to the education department of nepal that his biography is not included in our curriculum.

I couldn’t agree more; but the main obstacles are Congress, Communist, Maoist and RaPraPa supporters who blindly follow their incompetent and incapable leaders and never question their integrity, loyalty and Nepal’s back-stabbing decisions and agreements with neighbouring countries and still decide to keep the border open in the south.

Toni Hagen is believed to be the First Ever foreigner who arrived in Mustang in 1952 A.D. when i wasn't even born yet. He had come there for Geological Survey. This man i consider the most wonderful angel the God has ever sent from heaven to Nepal just purely for the benefit ot Nepal. He will always be in the hearts and soul of People of Nepal. Love you Toni. Thank you for all the things you have done for Nepal and the Nepalese people especially for the poor Tibetan Refugees who lost thir country and Freedom and helped them settle well in Nepal.

What a voice and clarity of information. Command in both English and Nepali is good 👍 😇🙏🏻🇳🇵 Jawaharlal Nehru was a communist and Indians were scared that again some foreigners would start invading eaatern countries. What happenwd in the past is different but Nepalis today are reckless and careless. Hamro khutta tannay chalan le kei garna didana..It doesn't matter what government comes...

Sir Tony Hagen is a named often used to us (Students studying Geology). Our respected sir Dr Meghraj Dhital (Whom we consider god of Geology in Nepal) also uses his name often while sharing his view on 'Geology of Nepal'. But interesting fact is that I never knew this part of a story. I mean contribution of Sir Tony Hagen on social, economical and tourism development of Nepal. I think for him Nepal is 'Mero Pyaro Nepal'. I also has his documentary video since 3/4 years on my mobile phone, I knew it was a documentary captured by a geologist but never knew it was Sir Tony Hagen !!! Thanks for enlightening me about that 🙏🙏
