"Will Grab You" is the first of 2 albums by California psych-blues-rock band, The Hook. Formed in 1968 by former The Leaves members Robert Arlin & Buddy Sklar. In 1966 with Arlin as their new guitar player, The Leaves had minor chart success with their song "Hey Joe", later covered by Jimi Hendrix." THE HOOK: Buddy Sklar - Bass, Vocals Bobby Arlin - Guitar Craig Boyd - Drums, Percussion with Kingsley Abbott - Glockenspiel (Track 3)

i saw them opening up for iron butterfly and canned heat, ‘67, ‘68? at the valley music theater in sfv. my first psychedelic experience without any drugs. “hold me girl” is still in my head. the live performance with paisleys on the walls and strobe lights going was mesmerizing.

Stealing licks from cream and hendrix must have been very popular back then. At least layed off the keyboard.

I wonder if these guys were better live? 'Cause both of their records just ain't doing it for me. They try to groove too much when they should be assaulting instead. And the lyrics are pretty trite. They definitely should have laid off the Tom Jones on acid approach and gone for a more demented, darker style like Blue Cheer.

Oh man, idk. I love me some Blue Cheer, but this sort of stuff gets my garage greased, Young d.i.y. Basement boy, eating gain and compression with my Wheaties soul a-thump’n! Get it, The Hook! F%€k the systems grooves, and take a spoonful of whatever you want from the music buffet!

I love the sign of the times production of the sixties and seventies and the funk incorporated into a lot of acid rock is something that i think lacks a lot in modern heavier rock, the slapped heavy bass and whatnot incorporated from funk and the whole sound of the guitar playing...this band coven, cream, deep purple mark 1 are some examples
