Back when I was a child, my Daddy was a drinking man...well, what I can remember from the story he told me later in life was - One day he had been drinking and came home in a mood...apparently my mom said something to him about his drinking, and he went to put his hands on her and my Daddy said something felt like it grabbed his hand and said to him "NO JOSEPH, YOU WILL NOT LAY A HAND UPON YOUR WIFE IF YOU LOVE HER"...Daddy said he looked at my mom, and she looked back with tear filled eyes...mind you, Daddy never hit her AND this was the FIRST time he even attempted to do so...he continued to tell me how he felt something gently lower his arm down as he looked at my mom and he began to cry...with shame in his heart as he began to cry, he turned and ran out the back door to his truck to take off, but for some reason it would not start...so he sat there for a few minutes thinking about what he almost did....Daddy said he then turned the radio on and this song started playing...as that song played on and he listened to the words, my Daddy said he felt something come over him, a feeling he had never felt before, a peaceful feeling....Daddy said that by the time that song was finished playing, he was on his knees, bowed at an old tree stump, praying to God for forgiveness and to come into his life...that day my Daddy gave his life to Christ, and never once took another drink after that day...he became the father/husband we always wanted and needed...let me say one more thing, Daddy NEVER laid a hand on us kids nor mom before that faithful day....the has always said this song "Go Ask" was his testimony song that changed his life and brought him to Christ...my Daddy went to be with the Lord 7 months ago after a short battle with Acute Front Lobal Dementia...he forgot who we were, but always new who Jesus was til the very end, and "Jesus" being the last word he mumbled before taking his final breath...Amen!!!
