I love this family " The Medici ". Lorenzo De Medici was one of the greatest and most famous nobles who cared for and encouraged art in Florence/Italy, which allowed the world to enjoy the great art works of Leonardo Da Vinci and Michael Angelo!

@Mona Rashed you do know that this was a very corrupt, powerful and extremely wealthy family. There were 4 Popes in the family who became Pope thanks to $, corruption, power. I know the first Pope of the Medici family had an affair with his daughter. Many plots to commit murder; some successful.

I got to visit Florence 30 years ago with the the choir I sang in when we toured Italy. It was so interesting to see all of the Medici tombs in Santa Croce, the church of the Holy Cross. It’s sad that Anna Maria died childless.

The Medici tombs are not in Santa Croce, they are placed in various chapels in the basilica of San Lorenzo. Santa Croce is a sort of pantheon of the Florentine (and later Italian) glories, such as Machiavelli, Michelangelo, Galileo, Alfieri, Foscolo and Rossini. But not the Medici at all.

We went to Santa Maria del Fiore (also known as the Duomo), Santa Croce and Santa Maria Novella, as well as the Museo San Marco and the Ponte Vecchio. It wouldn’t be difficult to have mixed in Santa Maria Novella and Santa Croce concerning who was buried where.
