In 2010, I reported Ian Watkins to South Wales Police after seeing a chat log between him & one of my friends on AOL messenger where he went into graphic detail about making a pornographic film with her, she was only 14 at the time. In 2011, I was talking to someone about it on Twitter. Can’t remember if I’d actually tagged him or not, but he found it regardless. He sent his mob after me to give me abuse, and boy, did they give me abuse lol. I still have a Screenshot of the Tweet where he told me he was going to “fist fuck” my eye sockets. It’s actually still on his Twitter. I told everyone who would listen that this man is a dangerous pedophile, but unfortunately, nobody took me seriously. I was at a Christmas party a few days before he was arrested, and somehow the story came up. Everyone challenged me on it, said things like “if he was a pedophile he would be in jail” and “if you reported it to the police and they didn’t arrest him, surely there’s nothing there”. Every single one of them apologised to me after the news broke and couldn’t believe that I was telling the truth. I like to think that someone is fist fucking his eye sockets in a cell somewhere. Dirty prick.

I was an officer in a prison Watkins was held in. What shocked me was the most, was with most of the sex offenders/nonces/wrong un’s etc, they are treated and dealt with accordingly. Watkins never showed any remorse or embarrassment, if anything quite the opposite. He thought he was a celebrity and was entitled. He even managed to get his solicitor to sneak stuff into the prison for him. He got transferred from the prison I worked in and I always hoped that his treatment would get worse in another facility. He’s the lowest of the low. If you haven’t read the court transcript and can handle it, do. He’s scum and deserves proper prison justice!

I can't imagine a police officer being like 'well it is bad, but I DO like that song they did.' I'd love to understand the reasoning, given their primary function is to maintain civil society. They act in a manner that suggests they consider their own judgement to be above that of the general public. A true story to lighten the mood, I used to live in Cardiff and a few months before Watkins got arrested I was in a nightclub called Bogiez (which was the local rock club). Also in there was a guy called Magzy who played guitar for a few of the local hardcore bands. Watkins walks in and then out of no where a slightly inebriated Magzy lunges for and beats down Watkins. A few years later we joked/theorized that Magzy had a premonition of what Ian had done so got his shots in early.

They had had a sexual relationship since he was a kid and his poor mistreated wife found out. It ended with the mother in law being beheaded and the son imprisoned. But it was said about the MIL that there's was nothing she could learn from the devil, but the devil could learn from her. That saying has stuck with me.

I’ve read Watkins pre sentence report, it’s actually online if you know where to look. It’s a very, very hard read. Even though he received a 35 year term there were some horrific charges that were actually dropped. It would be nice to read that he’d be got at inside, I’m confident it will happen one day. Back in the early 2000s, I did band promoting and used to do concert photography. This was before social media was an overpopulance, so online promotions were a hit or a miss and you had to be linked exclusively to the bands. As I was an American, I heard of lostprophets but never got into them, and I was (still am) a punk-goth-emo-metal-rock enthusiast. So, I think subconsciously there was something "off"" and "not right" about Ian. Of course, me being the most nonjudgmental person ever, gave him the benefit of the doubt as these musicians are known for encenricity and being loud. However, I never.could shake off my feelings about the dude because I also have the gift of looking through others. Once I found out about the crimes, it completely sickened me because you must be a new whole new level of monster to even think of doing them, and worse than the Dark Lord to commit them. Why are people like him allowed to walk on Earth? I never thought of him again, until his news a few days ago, and it unleashed the sickness and sympathy for the victims. I usually pray for their souls to be saved, but he has no soul, no heart, and no morals.

My band toured with lost prophets when I was 19. I had no idea that he was this sick but was aware of the amount of young fans (younger than me) that he surrounded himself with.. unfortunately that was the way it was in the rock and metal scene in those days (early 2000's) having now grown up and being a mental health practitioner, I can see the signs in hindsight.. he was a narcissist and showed psychopathic tendencies. I really do feel for the rest of the band, they were good guys and I'm almost certain they would have beat the shit out of him, if they had known. Now they are tarred with his reputation.

The SIO on this case was a guest lecturer at my uni when I was doing my masters degree in criminology and I heard this story first hand from him, they actually ended up taking the computer hard drive to America to access the content. You have researched this really well as the story is told so accurately. He said Watkins was a typical sex offender in that he tried to manipulate investigators and turned the charm up to 100 but he was literally the most depraved offender they have ever prosecuted. Another lecturer told me that child pornography is an incorrect term as consenting adults participate in or view pornography, and a child cannot consent therefore they are child abuse images not pornography but I think it’s a term everyone understands do that’s why it’s used widely. I dread the day Watkins is released, no children are safe with that predator around!

I live down under now but am from Wakefield. My next door neighbour from Wakey is a now retired prison officer and knew Watkins. I asked him how hard he's had it since getting there. From all the videos I’ve seen from you, this is probably the most upsetting and disturbing, not only because of the severity and cruelty of his actions, but the fact that the people who could have stopped him did nothing or let it happen. Ian is not the only evil person in this story, his enablers are just as guilty. Ian and those mothers deserve life sentences, or worse, the court was too easy on them. Corey Taylor of Slipknot said it best, there is not enough pain in the world for him.

This case always blows my mind. I met Ian (and the rest of the band) a few times at Kerrang! radio back in the day when I was a teenager (I still have the photos and autographs). Ian seemed arrogant and uninterested, but I was absolutely smitten with him at the time, so I dismissed his attitude as someone being cool. Now, whenever I think about him and having met him, my stomach drops and I often wonder if my understanding of his attitude then was actually my gut telling me that he was a bad person.

I think they knew to be honest. I don't feel sorry for them as I don't buy that they did not know. I actually played in a band that played a gig with them around 99/00 and it was apparent to us that the whole live show was geared around Teenage girl attention, and we found it repulsive back then. If we picked up on this, people touring with him for a decade +? yeh they must have known(at least about the teenage girls), also they seemed to be enjoying the teenage girl attention in 99/00 I have also Toured myself (01) and only Bands like Metallica have a tour bus each. When you tour you basically spend every minute of every day for a month , 2 months with the same people, you get to know people really f*cking well.

I just can’t understand it, how grown people can find little kids sexually arousing. I mean I understand that it is a kind of mental illness so they may not be able to help it, but as with any mental illness, it’s the responsibility of the person to get the proper help if they are suffering from one that they are mentally competent enough to understand the diagnosis. For instance I have severe ptsd and am mentally competent enough to understand what I am diagnosed with and what I need to do to live with it. People attracted to children know that to act on it is wrong, I’m pretty sure about that, but in the current social climate, everything is being used to excuse the sexualization and victimization of children. It’s gone so far that schools are being allowed to lie to or hide things from parents and make decisions for their children in the parents place. And there is this movement to decriminalize child sexual abuse by insisting these people be allowed to self identify as MAPS ( minor attracted persons) in the same way a person might self identify as pansexual or gender fluid, and that’s just going too far when its children who will end up suffering because of it. This whole movement to decriminalize just about every crime is just insanity. The kids have suffered enough already with the way they were treated due to all the Covid fear mongering, why are people trying to victimize them even more by putting them through all this gender confusion and then add to it by allowing them to be sexualized by “maps” ?? Most of them are too young to even grasp the concept of these things yet so why can’t we all just let them play and enjoy being children while they still can?

They just want to be left alone and the best way to achieve that is to leave other inmates alone.
