Exactly, Amazing how some people treat kids. It's fustrating too excuse some adults (maybe I'm wrong but doesnt seem like serial killers are petty or self absorbed.) because they might of had overindulged or terrible childhood. Which is probably lot harder than teaching kids fundamentals, manners, being receptive, courtesy. Some Kids who break everything, scribble crayons are genius. I don't think there's anything smart or academic when it comes too love ,loving..Good ol fashion discipline is love.

In Ed's interview he says that after his mom got home "soused" he went upstairs to her room and asked how her evening was. Her response was something like "I suppose you want to stay up all night and talk". This upset him so much that he waited until she was sleeping and killed her.

But she always made sure he had food, clothes and a roof over his head. It seems nobody could oppose Kemper. He had a problem with authority because he was a big guy who believed people should not be telling him what to do. So what if his mom gave him that response, I know moms who tell their sons much worse and they don't kill them. A man his age should have brushed it off, smiled and said " Have a good night mom, hope you dream of me" He never gave a retort instead he allowed her insults to consume him until he was no more than a big heap of hatred.

That's impossible. According to 30 unders, everyone older lived in magical times of prosperity, safety and happy families. /sarcasm. I know just why kids ran away in the day. It wasn't because they had to make up their beds and didnt get cool toys for Christmas. Runaways were a BIG problem in the 70s and 80s because of abuses there were no social awareness, support or programs for. Even IF you found a person who cared mostly they wouldn't know what to do--or did what they seriously thought was right (calling authorities to provide you services) which ended up the authorities just being sending you back home with a stern warning to obey your parents (the abusers). The same abusers who felt perfectly safe to shout at you in front of the authorities. Glad you're still here. All in time to live in a world where under 30s can accuse you of being responsible for war, gun violence and why they cant find a job to pay for a house even you cant afford.

It's crazy to think about just how much of an effect circumstances can have on people... Many cases hardly remind me of this, because of how fundamentally vile some killers appear to us, but some like these really call my attention to it. It seems like everything is fine, but this one thing in their brain goes so wrong, and it all falls apart. I seriously appreciate those who support these people into a better life, that includes their own good sides telling them not to give in.
@ssrmy1782

At the end of the day, he would have done the same things irrespective of his upbringing. He was a necrophiliac and a cannibal -- and openly admitted to not getting anything from the killings themselves, but his motivation was simply .......quote......"ejecting people from their bodies so that he could do what he wanted sexually." He admitted in his interview under the effects of Sodium Amatal that he took photos of their dead bodies in an attempt to use the images whenever he felt the urge, instead of killing othe People. But the Impulse was just too strong. He also admitted to consuming flesh, and storing amounts in the freezer, again, so that he could make use of it next time instead of hurting more people. A lot of these cases come down to messed up sexual interest and extreme selfishness -- as opposed to true mental illness. His sexual proclivities would probably have been the same, or similar, in a normal family environment. Unless we're saying that human sexuality derives from our upbringing. It's disturbing to think about how common these things actually are. Be careful around people you don't know because there is darkness everywhere.

I agree with you but there was this one time I had no choice, where I live there isn't public transport at certain hours you basically need a car and mine was at the shop, my husband at the time was supposed to wait for my call so he could pick me up from work which was at a beach side resort in a secluded area. I got off work at about 7:30 in the evening and tried calling but that day something happened that neither landlines or cellphones were working, by 8 I decided to start walking with my keys between my fingers incase I needed a makeshift weapon, it was about a 2 mile walk but there where no sidewalks and little illumination, as I'm reaching the main road there were 2 fellas loading up a pick up truck one of them got curious probably because I was wearing my work uniform (black slacks and a white long sleeve button down) and normally tourists would be walking around in shorts and tshirts so he asked me where I was headed, I mentioned the spot and he says you're in luck my brother in law is going that way he could give you a lift it's not safe to walk at this hour. I reluctantly agreed and accepted the ride never letting go of my keys and thankfully this gentleman was a decent guy and dropped me off at my in laws . I knew I was taking a huge risk but it was either become road kill or take my chances with a potential psycho. I hope that wherever these fellas are they are doing good in life they were definitely heaven sent.

No, you are wrong “they” don't wonder how he ended messed up in the head. There are many factors. Charles Manson was there for a little while too. We hear a siren everyday at 5pm. I don’t find him friendly or charming even in the interviews. Maybe because I’ve worked with psych patients for years but his eyes don’t match his words. His eyes are looking through you not at you. Meaning while you’re talking he’s figuring out what you know and what he wants from you. While he’s an open book about his crimes I’m sure he’s telling you what he wants you to hear Not necessarily what you are asking. He seems very much he knows he’s smarter than you and is going to play with you until he’s bored. You’re just there for his amusement.

Ed was not 6'4"....he was 6'9".... His father, btw, later admitted his new wife and son had no issues with Ed, that Ed did not have a whole bunch of issues and enjoyed spending time with his stepmother. The issue was Ed's mother. She harped at her son and ex husband, would call his stepmother and younger son multiple times a day, spoke "ill" to them, threatened them, called neighbors and even called his new school. So his dad gave up without even trying to fight for his son in any way possible. His dad and his sisters also testified that Ed told them he wanted to begin seeing his school counselor before he went to his dads. He knew, even as a young man, that something was wrong but his mothers response was ONLY corporal punishment and church. Only a bit after he moved back to his mother's from his dad's is when he began showing true symptoms of mental illness. He said later that his 1st stay in a mental health facility that no one told him what his IQ scores were. They just started spending more time with him. The staff and his charts also reflect this. He realized later on that the attention and conversations was something he craved. He learned to say what they wanted. This was the 1st time he was given constructive criticism and wanted to contribute to society. He has said multiple times since his trial that he does not need to leave the facility. Tells anyone who asks him about parole, not to ever let him leave. He should never be free. That he can't control his mind and doesn't want to test it either. Crazy
