we had our first game of the season last night (i’m a freshman) and honestly that was the greatest i’ve felt in a long time. we lost to our rival school, but it was a lot of fun. i was having my doubts about band, but 1. sweating like that is the best feeling ever 2. playing outside is nowhere near the same as playing inside. definitely one of the best night

I don’t see why people hate on this version so much sure there could be more style in the melody but it’s a really fun stands tune for football games (at least that’s how our band plays it)
@williamglover55794 жыл бұрын
Therein lies the “Catch 22.” Not by any fault of your own - but you’re waay too young. This is the only arrangement you’ve ever known. That’s ok. I’m sure it IS (or was) fun to play in the stands. I used to love to play “The Horse” in the stands during football games, too. That was in 1975-76 (44 years ago at the time of this writing. ..and almost a year after you wrote your response. See if you can locate an original recording of Bill Moffit’s arrangement. It totally blows anything else away! You will hear a literal wall of sound. Good luck and I hope you’re still playing!

Maybe for a late night show intro or outro - but never on the field. It’ll put the crowd to sleep! Bill Moffit’s original “SoundPower” version from the 70’s is SO much better! More life!

This is the saddest version (in terms of hype for the stands and the ensemble) of The Horse I’ve ever listened to. I didn’t think it was possible to mess this song up. You can’t even do the horn visuals on this!
@mikebridges7294 Жыл бұрын
The Moffet version is much better at being low brass driven and, was a favourite of band members and fans at games and rallies....as far back to its roots in the 70s. Our 250 member HS Marching Band (1970s) was blessed with fab brass and percussion.

In truth, this is the crappy Marching band version of this song! When I was in High School, this was a mainstay play at games. There is a much better version that is more brass heavy in the melody.
