I prefer the look of the 30k models to 40k. I kinda wish I had got into it rather than 40k. It's hard changing systems got some titanicus and 6mm models for net epic palladium and play necromunda. I don't think I'd finish anything if I got a 30k army not that I finish anything anyway.

Been out of the hobby for 10 years, didn’t like where the models were going, this for me is the best release in that time.. models not showy or over the top with detail with silly bits of fire or slime every where.. thr heresy is the best lore for me read all the books love the setting, and this release has done it for me.. just ordered 2 boxes both books and heavy&special weapons sets roll on the 18th Legion of choice is Sons of Horus, nobody does those they all like the yellow/blue/red/ green boys the most.. Got to be Heretics for me all the way

I think I'm going to go either Thousand Son's (Heresy era, obviously) or, possibly World Eaters. Word Bearers are also appealing to me. I can't choose yet, my chosen legion is usually Night Lords but I'm not keen on the upgrade sets for them, they don't do good enough upgrades for the legion in my opinion.

@@madMARTYNmarsh1981 it’s a difficult choice for me I love all three of those legions and I love the lore behind each Primarch especially, Angron and Magnus! ( can’t help but fell sorry for both of them ) That’s why I picked the Sons of Horus, mainly because of their Lore and of course Horus himself, which I’ve also ordered :) I love the colour scheme and the fact that the justaerin terminators will give me the opportunity to paint some black armour, which will make them stand out against the sea of green legionnaires, no other legion had different colour terminators in the heresy era, even thr dark angels didn’t have their bone white 1st company at this point..

@Dodge 77 Night Lords are my favourite legion because of Konrad Curze; I've got some pretty severe mental health issues (affective psychosis and a couple of other, lesser conditions) so I sympathise with Curze a lot. I've got the Forgeworld Konrad Curze although I haven't painted him yet. I agree with you about Magnus and Angron, Angron especially, knowing what he was originally intended to be but the advanced version of the Butchers Nails completely destroyed his potential. That's one thing I feel Curze doesn't have to redeem him, like Angron does; Curze was simply mental (I feel comfortable calling him mental because I am too, as the kids would say: mental recognise mental😂) where as Angron should have been one of the greater Primachs but the world he landed on was more interested in exploiting his physicality than his other gifts. Magnus for me seemed like a traitor due to a thousand cuts, so to speak; the edict of Nikea, Ahrimans (would you call it treason?) attempts to save the legion, Horus sending the Wolves in the Emperors name and finally Magnus' breach of the Emperors sanctum while he was trying to re-construct the Webway. I think all of these things combined (possibly other events I'm not aware of) to force Magnus to turn traitor purely in the interests of keeping his legionary sons alive (I'm aware that Ahriman attempted his calamitous ritual after the Burning of Prospero but I still believe it played a role in Magnus' eventual, total fall) as he couldn't fathom another way. If you post your painted miniatures to Instagram, I'd love a link to your account so I can have a butchers. Edit: which the Horus Heresy books was your favourite? Personally I really like all of them but Garro is such a good book, outside of the first 5 which are all of a very high quality. Obviously I love the Night Lords omnibus 😁 but the Word Bearers omnibus is an extremely good read as is the Ahriman omnibus.

@@madMARTYNmarsh1981 I’m in my 40’s! don’t have an Instagram account 🤣 Maybe I’ll look into it once the legion is painted, as I said been out of the hobby for over 10 years so need to start afresh, so new paints models rules and everything, looking forward to it tbh now that the kids have grown up, get more time for me.. Agreed the first books are the best but for me my favs gotta be Fulgrim and the first heretic..

I split it with the manager at my local Warhammer store. He gets 50% off on everything and so he bought it for $150 and then I gave him $75. All he wanted was the Spartan Assault Tank, 20 space marines and a praetor. And then I got everything else in the box. All in all, I think it was an EXCELLENT deal. Sadly I will have to pick up a spartan assault tank eventually for full price. But I love the minis

Narratively I enjoy 30k a lot more but not sure about learning 7th edition rules. Models from forge world are stunning as well, very unique models for each SM chapter

Can't wait for my set can't decide on what legion to paint the entire set up as , I've already got an iron warriors 30k army , so for me it's either imperial fists, ravenguard or nightlords.

i do really like tartaros terminators and mark 3 marines in horus heresy. if this box had those it would be more likely for me to pick up. 30k lore is more appealing to me than 40k for certain. I would think the degradation by chaos on traitors is pretty fast and early in the 9 years? Death guard & emperor's children changed very early?

Seems like they went '' indomitus'' value with this thing as well. 180 euro or +- 250 $ canadian seems like a steel for that much plastic....this cant be right? right?

@@0neKingD0wn Auspex Tactics calculated the savings at something like 55% compared with buying the kits individually - assuming the beakies cost as much as a tactical squad, etc. You get an absolutely amazing amount of plastic for the price of the box. AND the rules, AND the templates and such.

Absolutely. I don't know the 30k points system but this is a whole 2000 point army in 40k

The G.W. site said it is a limited release (it said something about a 2 week pre-order period) when I looked on there today, I bulked at £180 though. Then I went on the Element Games website and got it for £144, I paid less than £150 for it with next day (although release isn't for about 2 weeks) courier delivery. £180 vs £144... no brainer for me, I ordered some paint with the £36 I saved 👍🏻

what shall i choose to play? marine or marine?..every game like that i can see this getting stale very quick as well as this more expensive as you have to buy a 2nd boxset to equip marines with heavy weapons...positive is the models look clean not so weighed down by so much garbage added on a figure.

Couldn't agree more. I haven't collected in years, but now you have Heresy Space Marines, Space Marines and Primaris Space Marines... I could understand if they decided ok, all space marine models are going to be bigger from now on. You know have three lines of the same faction that can kind of intermix, but not really. If there was an easier cross over and these minis could be used in 40k it would be a bargain

@@silkyjohns0n You can use these minis in 40k. You can run the beakies, mk3, mk4, etc as a tactical squad, the terminators use the "relic terminator" datasheet, the contemptor has 40k rules and I would personally be very surprised if the tank didn't eventually get rules. Praetors can also be run as captains/chaos lords.

Its never got stale for me, the legions can play very differently depending on rites of war ect. Ontop of that you have the custodes, Mechanicum and the solar auxillia as well as daemons of the ruinstorm. If all factions get the love in 30k it can be very diverse.

Custodes, Guard, Mechanicus, Knights.... plenty to play. Plus 30k is far easier to balance than 40k

@@nukem8128 apart from the Custodes, Guard, Mechanicus & Knights you can also play Daemons, Cults & Sisters of Silence. So not only Marines in Heresy.

It’s still too much for plastic. 300 dollars, you can get a 1.32 scale model with more plastic and accessories for 100 dollars. GW has really got the people in their hands believing it’s worth what you pay for. I get it it’s a fun hobby but…
