The House of the Dead inspired the zombie apocalypse, which based on killing more zombies (like Left 4 Dead 2), while Resident Evil-the zombie apocalypse, which based on horror and lose of hope (like Left 4 Dead 1). Also funny thing is that both HotD and RE returned zombies their popularity again after their (zombies) popularity began to drown.
