Nice old book! I also have a good human evolution book from the 60s called Early Man published by Time Life, it was part of a series of science books. It has very nice colour and black and white illustrations by Jay Mattrnes and also some of Zdenek Burians paintings.

I'm familiar with that mammoth from the cover because it was copied for a sticker album from when I was a kid. Otherwise I always tended to overlook books about cavemen.
