Im a HPG nut myself. I also run the umlindi/admin pocket for edc. Its a little overkill but i love it. Also have the kit bag, tarahumara, butt pack, and many of the random gp pouches. Absolutely love HPG.

I've got an Umlindi that I had set aside as a "never coming home again" bag that I just broke down and reassessed since last packing it. It was originally going to be a supplemental bag, but with he available expansions I think I was underestimating what can be done with a whole HPG ecosystem. I just ordered a prairie belt for it and am also on backorder for a M2016 Butt pack to attach to the top, along with an admin pouch. good stuff.

I love all my HPG packs. It may be time to upgrade to the V2 Lindi

Excellent review of an awesome pack system and company. I am also a HPG fanatic and my Umlindi (Coyote/Ranger Green) is one of my favourites. The modularity, customization, durability and so well thought out is off the charts. I run a Tara pocket on mine with the recon belt. Only issue I have is I should have gotten a smaller belt. On the inside I run their Tool Roll as a med kit velcroed to the inside of the lid. Nate

Right on, that recon belt is a good choice. Like the idea of using the tool kit as a med kit.

What? Not the HPG Mountain Serape? Concerning the pack, the Delta straps, from pack to belt, make a tremendous positive difference. Those straps really punch above their weight.

50 min for a backpack review... wow!... but still wasn't enough time... we say ''modularity is King'' but you made it an Emperor... so much modification I've never seen before... My choice is a bit simpler because I always go on the mole system... a simple 40-lit pack, mole all around, over and under, and a sum of another 30-40 lit bags attached to it, all my layers are in a detachable bag, inside a drybag, on the left side, and all my shelter stuff in a same detachable bag, inside a drybag on the right side of my main bag there are 3 more detachable bags on my main backpack, but that's my hiking set-up... there's another bigger backpack that stays in my vehicle... and that's a towering 90 lit bag... if I have to take that with me, then all the detachable bags move to the ''tower'' and my 40 lit bag becomes my ''chest bag''... there's also an old 30 lit bag that I modified to a drop leg bag, and that's all medical stuff... more than first aid...

Sounds like a pretty handy set up. Man, it's gotta be heavy if you kit out your car pack to capacity. I keep a 32L in my care with the essentials. Medicine, set of clothing, food, water stuff, navigation, fire kit, shelter kit, cordage. A few odds and ends too, but I figure, if I have to use my car kit to get home, I'll be pretty motivated to be adaptable and pack out light to trek fast. Great thing about it all, there's really no wrong way about it. It's plain good to be prepared for life happenings... 👍 Good work my man.
