To manage the mind and lead a successful life it is important that our intellect is strapped with the right kind of knowledge. The knowledge that inspires us towards lofty ideals of selfless service and surrender to God and Guru.
However, the human intellect is inherently subject to the defects of the material energy, Maya. Due to these defects of the human intellect, we are living under a false illusion. We fail to see things in the light of knowledge and get fooled by our very own human intellect.

Swamiji beautifully explains that as human beings, we are heavily under the influence of maya to the extent that even when dying, we are not able to detach from worldly things. The point here is not to give up all materialistic desires (which is impossible) but to transfer the focus from materialistic desires to pursuits that will elevate the soul. Thank you, Swamiji!

Absolutely awesome lecture! Our material intellect believes the body and all associated with the body to be true, when in reality we are the soul, hence the transient world is not ours. Understanding this, one should submit their intellect to God by following His word as described in the scriptures and by the Guru, to be able to progress on the spiritual path.

Swamiji started explaining in order to have successful life we need to have proper knowledge filled in our intellect through which we need to live our lives. At present condition, we are thinking that we are the body, all my relatives are mine, they all be with me forever. In this world nothing is ours and we even have to leave our body upon death. Jagadguru Shree Kripalu ji Maharajji said "Live in this world as you live in the Motel" We will not consider the curtain cloth quality or painting colors of the walls in the motel. We say "who cares it, in two days I will vacate this Motel". But in the world we think as everything is permanent. Jesus Christ also mentioned that, live in the world to cross over the bridge, but do not make home on it. The same way we need to think of temporary nature of this world and move ahead on the path to real Happiness. For this we need to have proper knowledge that need to be obtained from Guru, Scriptures. The discussion on spiritual topics with worldly people will not help us in our progress.

Swamiji says that devotion is necessary for overcoming the constant influence of maya and material attachments. In fact, that is the only way to guide the human intellect is through surrendering one’s intellect to God and Guru which in turn will attract their grace.

Excellent teaching bySwamiji. In material condition world our mind is reversal. The anitya things, weare seeing as nitya. In our finalyatra we will go alone but we are not considering it.

Swamiji explains that the knowledge of the scriptures is divine and we, with our material intellect are unable to grasp that knowledge. We identify with the body so relate sensory experiences to the body. Thus, our attachment to the body and worldly relatives is an obstacle to attachment with the Lord and detachment to worldly and materialistic pursuits for the elevation of the soul.
