Great video as always. We are swamped in snow here. Like up there. Ordered rod holder for Kayak. Last piece other than night lights. Can assemble all the parts after ice off. We got 15 more days ice. Last night buddy called it at 11 pm. Not feeling great. So it was a bust. No bites. He normally try's to hang out tell bitter end.

What is your normal rod setup for Saginaw Bay? Size leader and quick claps? do you use a barrel swivel ?
@pjvick31283 жыл бұрын
The tuned up custom rods commander in 38". I run an okuma ceymar c-10 reel. James prefers an okuma helios hsx-20. I believe we are both spooled up with six pound suffix ice magic. We run a small swivel about 16 inches above a cross lock snap to prevent line twist. The cross lock allows us to change out baits efficiently. Also allows the bait of choice more freedom to work without the motion being restricted by a tight knot.
@InDepthOutdoorsTV3 жыл бұрын
James runs Sufix Advance on walleye rods and was fishing a Tuned Up Power Precision.

Red lake is fun for eater sized walleyes saginaw bay will produce some magnums and if you just want keepers you can fish the river jigging a #5 jigging rap and catch 10-13 inchers all day I have had several 200 walleye days walking not 50 yards from my truck there.

Hey. What auger mount are you using on the front of your Sportsman?
I have watched your videos for many a year and I love them to pieces. One thing I always wince at is when I see an ice auger laying without the blades covered. Those ‘razor sharp’ blades ‘bare to the world’ just waiting to cut. Don’t get me wrong, I know that everybody does it and occasionally I forget too but I guess I FINALLY felt that I HAD to say something. Please try to pay more attention to the fact that they present a very dangerous threat and maybe address the same on your videos. Again, I love your video content. Please keep them coming. THANX
@197122183 жыл бұрын
I always worry about the blades, especially when I’m alone on the ice. Cut yourself in the wrong spot and you could easily bleed to death on the ice all ALONE! Good point sir!

Me and my buddy are going to go there for our first time. Is there any advice that anyone can give us. Whether be about ice safety, what to avoid, and anything really.
@josephrosolowski35753 жыл бұрын
You might want to consider hiring a guide for your first trip. Many of them now do “follow outs” for around $75-100. You use your transportation and gear, but they take you out on a safe trail to an area that has been productive. At the very least, join the Saginaw Bay Facebook group and look around. Good luck!

Ok let me rephrase my question then 😀, wouldn't having live imaging be beneficial always? And if I owned it I think I would want to use it always. That's why I was wondering why you don't use mega live always.
@InDepthOutdoorsTV3 жыл бұрын
We use mega live every time we're on the ice. We just didn't show it. Instead we chose to focus on 2D sonar footage in this episode. We will definitely feature mega live in future shows.
