The Japanese Koi seller is trying to get more money from you. It is ideal to ask the seller to catch all the fishes, sort them out and provide the price for each group of koi in different blue containers. After that , you then select the Koi you like in order to avoid the long negotiation process. By the way, it is only the colour pattern on the fish body. In Asian countries, fishes like Red Parrot, Giant Gourami and Flower Horn cichlid can be tattoo with different colours on the body. You could learn the technique and do it on Koi for a new look.

You have to have a native broker to go into these places cause if you think you can just go in and represent yourself they will not sell to you. One reason he doesn't get what he wants because he isn't buying much. If you don't want to buy twenty or thirty fish it really isn't worth the breeders time. What is he doing buying one at a time.
