Sadly, this was Werner Stocker's last appearance as Darius and as an actor. He was stricken with cancer and died during the filming of this episode. I believe they dedicated his name in the closing credits. RIP Mr. Stocker. I often wonder what if he wasn't ill with cancer. His Darius character would have become a major player in the series, instead of making guest appearances in a few episodes.

One of the best episodes to me. In fact the way Darius is described he could be ATTILA, King of the Hunns.supposedly he had killed a Holy Man and later turned Christian so the legend goes. Also the Time frame about twothousand years would fit then. ATTILA, the facts: Historians rather assume that the man became poisened by some unsatisfied followers. To the credits Darius was played by the German actor Werner Stocker ( 1955-1993 who had died as a result of a brain tumor ) He was buried in his hometown Flintsbach near Rosenheim/Bavaria) Was, I asssume, - because in Germany graves are rented for some years and then given on if the family does not pay for the ongoing fees. Storcker had studied German Literature and Acting in Munich and was becomming soon after his training a national and international respected, but regrettably not a famous, actor by the public

I wonder if the Watchers were always meant to be introduced into the story, or if they were created to give reason for the death of Darius? There is a rather sad, ironic reality check that the character of an immortal had to be written out by the death of the actor playing the character.I am glad they did not simply try replacing the actor, and continue on with the character of Darius. A good tribute to the career of Werner Stocker.
@lordhosk2 жыл бұрын
In behinds the scenes stuff on the DVDs one of the producers or writers said the watchers were always intended to be a thing but they adapted them to the Darius storyline because Werner Stocker died, they were supposed to kill Fitz in this episode. Methos was then created as a Darius stand in to give Duncan information about the watchers. Roger Daltrey was supposed to be a big star who would come on be hyped as a guest star and be killed off.

All of those questions have been answered in the series, you just have to keep watching Though the series treats things as killing them, they can repair nearly anything that is only partially lost If you pull out their heart, their body doesnt create a new one, but if you shoot them in heart, it will repair the partial damage Heart attacks are non-permanant damage, easily repairable Its better described that things that kill mortals put imortals into a state of shock, like a coma, til healed

+borgduck I was on my second, possibly third viewing of the series. I remember seeing it so many times... *knocks over chairs* "DARIIIIIIUUSSSSSSSS" Duncan is sad, starts thinking about the past, cut to *knocks over chairs* "DARIIIIIIIUUSSSSSSsS".

This episode is where the series changes. The character arcs and recurring story lines just got better and better. Seasons 4 and 5 are my favorites. Love Joe Dawson and Methos, who should have ended up with their own show after this series ended.

@Cinedigm - Bro, why'd you make ALL of seasons 2-6 "private"?🤷 What's goin' on Dude?🤔 I already have the Best Buy Exclusive DVD sets of seasons 2-6, so I can watch the entirety of The Series whenever I damn-well please, but I'm just curious, as now I don't have an easy go-to link to share it with others on Facebook when they ask "Where can I watch it for free?"
