The thing about the original is that SPOILER ALERT the plot twist was that a woman outsmarted them both in the end. So the original was about female empowerment in a very subtle way. It would be interesting to see if a man outsmarts the main characters in this film.

Not exactly judging from the preview. If they make it a competition between the 2 of them and Rebel Wilson stabs herself in the eyepatch with a corked fork, then yes! Haha Looks kind of funny, but I'm definitely getting tired of these reboots of classic movies.

Not really. I don't recall Michael Caine's character teaching his ways to Steve Martin's character. In fact, they were in competition with each other. I didn't get a sense of competition by this trailer. Dirty Rotten Scoundrels was a remake as well.

@@TheRetroStuffGuy He did keep teach Steve Martins character his ways but then made him behave as his less than sophisticated 'brother'. They only went into competition against each other when Steves character had enough and they were fighting to win over 'Janet'.... I use to watch that movie over and over as kid! Loved it!

It is - purposefully. Its is a gender swap remake - originally it was also going to be called Dirty rotten scoundrels but in the end they changed to a more generic name.

Totally! It will be interesting to see the twist with women though. Dirty Rotten Scoundrels....great film....from what I remember, it's also a remake. The original was a French film.
