17:02 Fern's clone was actually there fighting with Methode(the blonde woman mage) (here is the aftermath of the battle 14:31). 17:05 they would've been luckier if Frieren didn't join the exam 😂 if Frieren didn't join, the last boss would probably be Sense's clone and Ubel can just defeat it 😂

Also, Ubel is mostly interested in gaining Lands cloning ability. And Land is 100% aware that Ubel is cunning and wants his ability so he tries to be as difficult to get to know as possible.

@@AnimeAestheticYT I have no idea honestly. I feel like most perceptive characters are highly aware of Ubels psycho tendencies and try to keep her at an arms length. She might also just be extreme good at winning people over despite this.

Spoiler: now they have to confront Turbo Granny in the tunnel. 22:18 “Fern was like, ‘I don’t recognize this spell.’” Actually, what Fern said was, “I don’t recognize this as ‘magic.’” This is not magic as she knows it, which may mean that Frieren is doing some kind of magic that is different from what humans are using. In my speculation, it could be an elf-only magic or Frieren’s unique innate ability… maybe it’s psychic, like Ayase Momo’s. Chris also pointed out that maybe Fern didn’t recognize a majority of spells that both Frierens were using… I doubt Frieren taught or had the time to teach Fern these combat spells. Remember that Fern was only using Zoltraak and basic defense spells in combat. Don’t you love the look that clone Frieren gave to Fern before blasting her? That was fricken scary. Also, I ship Ubel and Land, and now, Lawine and Richter, haha… from enemies to lovers.

fern didn't hesitate to kill clone frieren, that makes zero sense since its only a clone. She simply wasn't fast enough to react, which is crazy since fern is known for her incredible speed and reaction time as a mage.

oh are you referring to "hesitation is defeat"? Did i say that? not sure i forget now. yeah your are right she just wasnt fast enough which is insane. If i did say that i was referencing the game sekiro its one of my favorite games ever. I guess it wasnt the best use of that quote in this case lol

It's not even that she wasn't fast enough, she just didn't recognize it as an attack because she didn't sense any mana on that, she said it herself.

While Frieren only used basic spells against others, she created another universe when fighting herself with those spells xD Apart from that Übel was the still the highlight for me on this episode, showing again how important it is in this magic world that you can visualize something. Love her simple mind. Also she mostly hangs around Land to empathize with him so she can get his clone magic I guess. But I also want to believe she does like him in that way you described haha. Now we will soon find out who makes it to first class mage for real! Place your bets you two! Also love the title haha, it sure was hype!!

FR! What was that?! She seriously was creating planets and whole solar systems in that battle with herself haha. Yes! that part was equal parts badass and equal parts terrifying. I feel like they might be starting to like each other but idk it could all be a ploy. I can stay hopeful tho! IT REALLY WAS SO HYPE!

Sense is a pacifist and designs her tests to require cooperation between the test takers. This was the first group to cooperate, that's why the other tests she made were failed. Fern's replica wasn't seen, but you could see the battle scars from Methode fighting her before the replicas disappeared. Fern uses variations of the magic energy piercing spell instead of using matter, like most of the other mages. You could see the circular indents in the wall from that spell, around Methode.

oh man thats interesting this was the first group to cooperate. Makes sense that she never passed anyone yet. Mages seem to be more individualistic. Oh ok ill have to go back and look at that scene again thanks for pointing this out!
