I just wanted to say, those of us who are stay at home moms don’t just completely rely on our husbands for financial security. I have a nest egg I saved myself, we also have a prenuptial agreement in place. I also have a degree and experience under my resume. No one should ever quit their job for any reason without a back up plan. That’s just not very smart.

What happened to marriage being a team? Work together?
@BloodSweatandFears
@BloodSweatandFears 5 ай бұрын
@@sadfasde3108 We do work together, every day. We work together for our children and for our life together. Neither of us believe in divorce but we both know things happen in life and anything is possible. Humans are imperfect and make mistakes. So we made sure both of us would be safe and secure if anything crazy ever happened. I think if anything, that IS working together.

You’re not a trad wife then. You are a SAHM who was smart and has financial and job security to fall back on should the marriage fail. I figure trad wives are women who have nothing to offer to a relationship besides their uterus.

It’s def not all of you which is why so many SAHM and trad-wives become financially trapped in the marriage or end up in poverty when the marriage ends. You’re way ahead of the curve in that aspect.

It’s also funny that they assume that trad wife is what all the men want nowadays. As someone who has put off relationships to work on my career throughout the first 1/2 of my 20’s I’d much rather be with someone who is also carrier oriented, independent and on a similar financial page. But maybe I’m just weird.

No, you are perfectly normal. What modern young men actually want to be the only one working and earning money ? What they say online is very different to reality. Trad wife (unless ok being controlled and are super religious) is a one way ticket to being a single parent living in poverty. Don’t do it! Much better being on equal footing than subservient

@@sadfasde3108the point of tradwife isn’t to not make money. It’s making money from home so they can raise their kids which wouldn’t happen outside their husband. A lot of times women fight to work only to take home less money because of childcare. It’s to each their own.

@@journeytothevoid2899 Tradwives aren’t supposed to work at all, and it’s not just about raising children. It’s a mindset that puts women under men and keeps them in the home which has a lot of issues such as abuse, and since the woman has no money of her own she and her children are left vulnerable if something happens to her husband or their marriage.

I feel so conflicted whenever I watch content on this topic. As a stay at home, homeschooling mother for over three decades, it feels like social media has pathologized normal, maternal behaviors that have been intrinsic to our species since the dawn of time. Rather than receiving the admiration that I once did for my life choices, all I hear today is politicized ideation of who I am from people who have never lived my life and truly have no idea what my life has been like. It’s surreal.

Every time I hear people talk about being a trad wife I think of two people I used to know as cautionary tales that you always have to be able to take care of yourself. The first woman was a stay at home mom who had two kids with a man she was in a relationship with. After 12 years together, he decided that he was no longer fulfilled by this relationship and moved out and left her alone with no job, two kids, and a house payment she could not afford without his income. The second woman was married to a man who made a good living in construction while she worked as a waitress part time while raising their two kids under 8. While the family was on a summer vacation they were in a car wreck and, unfortunately, she was left as a single parent with two kids with one of the kids in the hospital for months. Even if you pick the right man, you cannot control the future, so you have to be able to take care of yourself and your kids.

I appreciate your take on this topic. You demonstrated how some Tradwives are influencers and you also gave particle advice for those considering this type of lifestyle. I think some people only see the glamorized content Tradwife influencers are presenting and don’t see the underlying context of what is also going on behind the scenes. Wishing you the best and keep up the great work!

It is. It puts women under men and creates a false sense of freedom and choice for many who are indoctrinated into thinking this is the only way they can be a woman. I’ve seen trad content and it made me sick how a man preached that a good wife gives a man authority over her body.

So because a wife works from home she's not a trad wife? And you definitely don't understand how these marriages work. We don't need permission to leave the house, we don't get an "allowance" or are denied access to the bank accounts. That's not how a healthy marriage works. Just because some of the relationships are like you describe doesn't mean that they ALL are. And frankly it's insulting that feminist say women have the choice to be what they want to be EXCEPT if it's a traditional wife.
