The I-Team: Mexican drug cartels look to North Texas to smuggle military-grade guns

According to a recent government report, an estimated 200,000 firearms are smuggled into Mexico each year. Of those recovered and traced, nearly half come from Texas.

There is no way that a fully automatic weapon was straw purchased. This is the media trying to attack lawful gun owners. Build the wall. Quit making it so easy to get across both ways. They aren’t catching all these people because border agents have become baby sitters to “expedite” unvetted people into the interior.

Military grade weapons? A Military grade would mean made with quality parts, Mil-spec. I doubt many of those are Mil-Spec.

Agreed I saw no selectors and the M249 looked like the S model so its semi-auto and not a machine gun. Don't get me wrong anyone buying firearms to sale to cartels should receive and serious jail term if not be charged with conspiracy to commit murder since that's what most of these will be used for.

50 cal rifles are heavily tracked due to their capabilities and also are big-ticket items. Aint nobody got 12-15k laying around to be buying a barrett rifle. Also not many barretts are made per year. But machine guns? More than likely still a semi-auto. NFA/post samples are heavily restricted. An M249 or M240B/squad variants are post samples if they are full auto. Which means those require you to have an SOT. And if Lajoya is out here purchasing those kinds of machine guns and then selling it to the cartels. He is violating ITAR regulation and thats like a very serious offense. Thats 30 years per count/charge bro. And if he had sold more than 1 under SOT licensing in that way. Dude is getting hundreds of years if he did it this way. Thats not legal at all nor permissable to the highest level. Like RICO level charges since it is involving organized crime and creating a racket. None of this news article makes sense at all.

Well if the military has those, so should anyone else, because the criminals are obviously going to copy those weapons, and the people need to be able to defend themselves as well as assist our law enforcement and armed forces in that defense.
