if you don't need avx some socket 771 xeons can equal or exceed this cpu "with overclocking" but you will be stuck with only ddr2 and ddr3 and will need to know how to flash microcode into your bios for best performance if your using a 771 to 775 sticker mod. It's a fun project for hella cheap that most people find too silly to consider. with SSSE3 these chips can play games that the phenom II no longer can. hands down the most affordable solution for smooth 60hz 1080p gaming.

Made a new build August last year. Old PC was a Intel 3570K running on a Gigabyte Z77-DS3H Motherboard; 24GB RAM, R9 290, 1080p 60hz monitor Old PC did everything I needed it to do though at lower settings. Had the main parts of the old PC for 7 years, only upgraded due to the motherboard slowly dying on me, PC randomly would not POST. Discovered that any RAM in slots 1/2 caused failure to POST. OK, run at 16GB RAM in slots 3/4. Occasional fail to POST in slot 3 a few months later. Could not be without the PC... Upgrade time. New PC: AMD 3700X, MSI mpg x570 gaming pro carbon wifi, 32GB RAM, RTX 2080, 1440p 144hz monitor + 1080p 60hz secondary monitor (old primary, now in portrait). @@xrafter Yeh. Hopefully stock levels will improve about the same time.. I dont want to pay £100+ for a b450 that can later run 8 cores (r7 4700x for e.g.) The asrock K4 is ~ 84 notes so that will do at a push,when they all have ryzen 3xxx ready bios. Good ram is now cheap enough. It is a lot of ££'s to upgrade it all but my Father gets my i5 rig minus the gpu for surfing/office.

I've got the i7 4790 paired with a rtx 2070. Still no bottleneck or any issues whatsoever. All rtx titles at 4k hit 60 FPS with no lag at all. But it's my next upgrade, just waiting for a price decrease.

I’m about to buy a used system with this cpu, with intention of upgrading it with a 1060 3gb for my girlfriend’s very first system. Looks like it’ll be a great entry level :)

I picked up one of these for £25 for one of my kids machines, recently popped a 1050ti in with it (previously had a gtx460) and he is more than happy with its performance coming from an xbox one s and he can now play the type of games he likes as is more into the rts genre and simulator type of games. It should last him a fair while unless it dies of course.

Bought the i5 4460 at Christmas 2014, went strong with my R9 290. Saddly the R9 died in late 2018 and was replaced with a GTX 1060, early in 2019 i replaced the System with a ryzen 5 2600. In early 2020 i upgradet to wqhd and bought a 5700xt. Back in late 2019 i rebuild the i5 4460 for the little Brother of my Girlfriend with my old hd5870, saddly the gaming Performance in fortnite was absolute bullshit he allready had a playstation and i needed the money from my used 1060. But now i got a broken 980ti from a friend, i gona Bake the 980ti and the R9 290 maybe the i5 4460 will go Strong again!

This was my first 'gaming' processor paired up with a GTX950. Used them for around 4 years until recently upgrading to an i7-4770k (4th gen best I can do with the MB) and a 1660 Super. Decent cpu but could not run Warzone with any degree of stability, used to crash constantly with no explanation. No problems since upgrading.

That's up to you. I only got the i7 because I didn't want to buy a new mobo. Ryzen is the better choice in the long run, especially if you plan on getting a next gen RTX gpu. If you're gonna play lots of 8th gen games for years to come, a 4790 will suffice.

I bought a z97 board and an i5 4690k, 8gigs of Ram and a power supply for around 100Euros in your currency...Added some Ram and Ssd, and it's a beast considering the budget..It runs like a charm with my Rx 560.

I use only an i7-2600s daily, superb performance especially for the power consumption, and decent temperatures. It's also a life saver if your motherboard is limited on CPU power. Cinebench R20 score 885. For the £60 I paid for it, I recommend!

My i5 4440 still does well in most games. Newer ones however made me glad I switched to a 4790K (2 years later), and now a 3700X (couple of months ago). Quad cores just don't do as well as they used to (I saw improvements in Skyrim, FNV and FO4 with each upgrade due to my mod lists).
@kimiariffin20464 жыл бұрын
Is a 4790 (or a 4770 for that matter) that much better compared to the i5’s of that generation? Im currently running a i5 4570 and am still not sure if i should spend more by going for a ryzen cpu or just save and get a 4th gen i7 instead?
@dabombinablemi61884 жыл бұрын
@@kimiariffin2046 Yes, an i7 is that much better (even an i7 4770). That being said, the price of 4th and 5th gen i7 is still insane though - they are holding their prices better than an iPhone. So it may be worth just going straight to Ryzen at this point. A 3300X on the lower end (faster than the 4790K by a decent amount) or a 3600. If you can afford a 3700X, it consumes less power at stock settings (and especially under Eco mode) than a stock 4790K, and is faster single threaded even with the i7 at 4.8GHz.

The system that ultimately became my main gaming rig originally started out with one of these. I found it, along with an ASRock H81M-ITX motherboard and 16GB of Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR3 1600 RAM in a pile of junk. The lack of an all-core turbo and low overall boost clocks had me contemplating replacing it with an i3-4340 I scored at the same time, but I happened upon a 4590 instead. That gave way to a 4670 and finally a 4770 before I replaced the board/CPU with an E3-1241v3 in an Asus H97I-PLUS board after the ASRock seemingly developed issues with its fan controller.

You should remake the video you made a few years ago about the best pc parts under £10 cos a lot has changes since then. Also i think you should make some more merch cos if you do i would try persuading my parents to let me get a mug like you had before (that was before i was into pc building). Also i have just ordered my pc parts and i ordered a dell optiplex 790 and i am putting in an i5 2400, upgrading the ram to 8gb, upgrading the psu, adding a gtx 770 (2gb version. I think theis will be fine even though i saw your video the other day about it because i would only be playing games like minecraft and overwatch), adding a 1tb hard drive and a 120gb ssd
