When you divide 24 by say 12, it means you are separating it into 12 smaller equal groups, instead of separating it into 2 groups that are equally 12. The latter is only true if you divide it by 2. Another example is that when you divide 25 by 2, there will be a remainder of 1 because it is not enough to form an independent group of 12. It's like cutting a cake into 25 slices and pack them up with 12 in each bag. There will be one slice of cake left. Correct me if I'm wrong.

If you divide something into 3 groups, why would it change the answer. I understand the general concept of division, I am in grade 11. But I feel like mathemeticians skipped some sort of step or didn’t make the idea of division clear enough. Because if you divide 24 by 3 for example, then everything is still there. All 24 triangles are still there, they are just now categorized separately. And yes ,one of the categories is suppose to be the equivalent to the expression of 24/3 which would be 8. But this is irrational of division means what I think it means. Because to my understanding division is the idea that a number is categorized into an equal ammount of parts of itself . And the ammount of equal parts of itself that would make up itself depends on the number in front of the sign. But regardless of the fact that it is categorized into an equal ammount of parts of itself. In this case 3 equal parts, the answer is still the same. It is not different until you add the concept that all but one of the parts are suppose to be ignored. For example. All but one of 3 is one, all but one of 5 is 1. So if you add that concept to the equation. Than yes of course you can say 24/3 is 8. Because we have decided all but one of the 3 parts is ignored. But if we do not add this all but one concept than 24/3 from plain logic is just simply a different representation of 24 itself. Meaning the answer would really be 24. The concept of division is not being properly expressed, this needs to change.

It's groups of things. So, like how multiplication is x many groups of y, and totaled up; division is the opposite process. Start with your totaled amount, wanting to break up your total into w amount of groups of v amount. Yeah this isn't really well expressed in education that well tbh, as it's less obvious due to amounts being represented by numbers and kids relying on memorization so it gets confusing and probably a lot of peoole/kids end up not fully grasping what's fundamentally happening with division as a concept with groups and all that.
