Beards are a true issue when it comes to how society views them.I personally think that all men should have beards but that's just my opinion.

I like to garden and play the piano and sing along with the oldies. I like to grill and ski and scuba dive. I like black coffee and red wine. I like to smoke a pipe and I like English blends and aromatics and I have beard. My beard does not define who I am but is a part of who I am. Part of my identity and the beauty of a beard.

Who cares what women think? Having a manly beard is a manly obligation.

I love how you are humble about your beard. People think that you have to grow a massive beard to be a man, but its what each individual can grow. And thank god for the women who love beards.... cause our beard hair is no different than the hair on our heads

real and deep words of a true bearded man ! i see my self in each thought ! the bearded has many personality and psicological aspects... and one of them i think, is just what you have brought, its about beeing yourself, authentic, and not just try to be what woman would like us to be, see... a man that builds his self in what woman want him to be ( or others ) is a week man.

I could never have no beard, Id feel very insecure and naked without some form of facial hair. I really feel the beard for a man is part of him, its not like the head hair, because it says alot more about the character of a man to me, integrity, honesty to your gender, decisiveness and maturity. My beard lives, and its form is forever developing, year by year.

yes I agree, I have been bearded for over 30 years. I have always been that short guy with the beard. Recently I let it grow long and and I was blow away by all the people who came up to me to tell me how much they like/love it. It is white, curly and, I think, beautiful. I hear "hey Santa" a lot and I think of it as a compliment even though I'm a bit thin to be the Clause.

A response to manxkin: Well put. I play guitar, scuba dive and ocean kayak. I teach 5th grade, surf, take care of my 88 year old mother, am a brother to 4 sisters and 1 brother. I restore old vw's and love watching the NASA channel. I have a beard and long hair but that does not define me. I am trying to practice buddhism. A key principal is the teachings is impermanence. We are constantly changing and can not hold on to the past. Having a beard is a just one of the wonderful aspects of our journey through this world. ZenDog

At this point I barely think about my beard as a statement anymore! I feel like it is just part of me, and when people comment on it I am surprised to find they usually think it is cool.
