Achieving Masculine Maturity in the Modern World
In the following videos, I will delve into the representations of masculine maturity deeply embedded in our cultural subconscious. This exploration will be facilitated through a framework established in the book "King, Warrior, Magician, Lover" by Robert Moore and Douglas Gillette.
The world faces a real lack of maturity particularly masculine maturity. In their book "King, Warrior, Magician, Lover Robert" Moore and Douglas Gillette argue that this is because the modern world has destroyed the more primitive and social structures around fostering and encouraging boys to become mature men. I would and to this that this notion is not exclusive to boys alone. However since we still live in a predominately patriarchal society where it is more common to see immature men in positions of power and authority. The more educated the general public becomes the more these immature men stick out of our collective cultural norms. This immaturity is not only present at the top of our society but is present in our society at all levels from government to office culture, to circle of friends, and where it all starts our family.
