I've never brewed before and your advice was really easy to take on board. Thank you.

I'm super glad some of what I had to say was useful! I haven't made any videos recently, but if you have something specific you've got questions about, let me know and I'll be happy to put something together for you (and others).

Hi, great video! I had one question, if you cold crash your beer, can you still put it into bottles or you have to mandatorily use a keg? Thank you!
@checkerheadbrewing8 ай бұрын
You can absolutely put it into bottles. If you look at this chart you'll see that you can change the temperature and adjust your priming sugar accordingly... www.brewersfriend.com/beer-priming-calculator/

Hi David, Great video. Can you do a video on dry hopping? Cheers, Hayden
@checkerheadbrewing3 жыл бұрын
Yeah... Happy to do one on dry hopping... I aim to make two of these videos a month, and I'm going to talk about my hop yard in the next one, but I can totally follow that up with a dry hopping video. Thanks for the suggestion!

@@checkerheadbrewing Hey David, I was looking for this Dry Hopping video in your feed but maybe you didn't get around to it. Would still love to get your take on different methods with different fermenters, etc. Thanks!

@@joshuapinter Joshua - thanks for all the comments! Never did get around to doing the dry hopping video I said I would, but hope to do one in the coming weeks. Short term, I'd check out the video I did for post primary fermentation additions as it's quite similar to my dry hop method - kzbin.info/www/bejne/pHWyg6CCZryYldU

Great video I’m looking into doing this would I cold crash my beer if it was being bottled I’ve also heard of raising the temp as well
@checkerheadbrewing3 жыл бұрын
I usually cold crash it to get all yeast and proteins to fall out of suspension. I'll drop the temperature to 2˚c for a couple of days then pull the fermenter out of the chest freezer and let it warm up to room temp before bottling it. I've had great success with this approach.
@Curts_C1011 ай бұрын
Good vid! Do you think it’s better in the lower temp range, middle, or high in the range of yeast your using when fermenting?
@checkerheadbrewing11 ай бұрын
Depends what you want the yeast to do... If you're after fruity esters, fermenting at a warmer temperature is great! I you want fewer esters, drop the temp down for a cleaner finish.

Do you know how many cu ft that small chest freezer is? I have the same 7 gal ss brewtech bucket and im concerned with the ledge inside the small freezers.
@checkerheadbrewing2 жыл бұрын
Yeah... It's a really close tight fit for the 7 gallon SS Brewtech Brewbucket. I'm pretty sure mine is a 5.5 cubic foot Danby Chest Freezer. I picked it up off of Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace for about $60.00... It's served me really well for about 5 or 6 years!

Hi, great video. What capacity is the chest freezer you are using? I have been looking on CL for a used mini fridge, but none appear large enough to fit my Speidel 30l fermenter, so I'm wondering if I will have better luck with a chest freezer.
@checkerheadbrewing3 жыл бұрын
Hey Hey - So I've got three different chest freezers that I use for different sized fermenters. I've got one that'll hold the seven gallon SSBrewTech Brew Bucket, one that will hold two 14 gallon SSBrewTech Brew Buckets and one that can hold three six gallon carboys. Each one's a different size and I plan things so that the freezers that can hold more than one fermenter all use yeasts that want to ferment around the same temperature. For your Speidel 30 litre fermenter I'd definitely say that a chest freezer is a better option as long as you don't mind lifting it in and out of the chest freezer.

100% - As long as your fermentation temperature stays in the range you want it you should be good to go!
