As someone who is just learning the art of CV play (I ground out both tier 4 CVs in Co-Op mode and just finished grinding both tier 5 CVs in it as well) I really appreciate videos like this. Very informative, lots of good information to take in, and doing it in carriers that aren't tier 9 or 10.

I assume playing CVs in PvP is a lot more different than coop because there will be some stock ships, really sneaky DDs, good Counter-CVs and a lot of different Captain-Builds (Full AA KM-Ships...) you have to deal with.

Thanks to you i realised the importance of moving. At the beginning i stood still and only started to move when i was spotted and often died afterwards. I adapted pretty much of your playstyle in that regard. Cheers Flamu!

I wish more CV's were team players and helped out their DD's like this. It's incredibly frustrating to be the only DD on the team, have the enemy CV spot you for most of the match with his fighter squadrons, only to receive zero air cover or support while playing the objective. Fantastic video, Mr. Potato God :P

To be fair, there is no way the friendly carrier can give you effective air support and spotting with his planes IF the enemy carrier is an Air Superiority loadout and the friendly carrier is a balanced/strike loadout.

Flamu I've been watching your videos for a while and you've been a great help to me in accelerating my learning curve and helping me become a player that is head and shoulders above your average WOWS player...but the CV snipe. I just don't like it as a tactic. Any good CV will see it coming miles away and then prepare to defend themselves with their fighters. It's just that a CV snipe early in the match is so obvious. If nobody sees your dive/torpedo bombers for the first part of the match...then a CV can expect a CV snipe is on the way, and if someone does see your planes hugging the border...blatant giveaway to your intentions. Now...I don't play CVs...but I know how deadly a good CV captain is...and a good CV captain rarely gets caught in a CV snipe with his pants down.

You always go full risk with a CV snipe at the beginning of a match. Full risk of losing a) your squads to enemy fighters or b) losing your ship against a counter sniping CV. It is a valid tactic though and often enough well worth the risk at least for your team. Thankfully there are still players around that appreciate a good CV player. Thats the best part of the "job". :D

CV snipes seem to be high risk, high reward from what I've seen (only tier 5 Zuiho right now). Although, that "high reward" might not mean much, since I had a game with a 2v2 CV setup with a tier 4+5 on each team. I sniped the enemy tier 5 CV and then began normal operations. Team still managed to pull a loss out of that despite the advantage (my team had more than their share of border hugging battleships and yolo DD's).

Sniping doesn't mean instant win. It takes ages to run around the map to snipe, and you often lose planes. While doing this you aren't spoting, you aren't intercepting any strike on friendlies, you aren't supporting your team by striking an other key ship. So sometimes snipe is the right thing to do, sometimes it's not.

For me Hiryu is the best carrier in the game,you often get T5 MM where AAA sucks, mostly T6 where it might shoot down 1-2 planes and some have defensife AA and than T7 which are a bir harder to engage than the others but still managable,T8 is hard but you can still go for others first

Hiryu has T6 torp planes which are both slow and squishy.... Shokaku is definitely the best CV, since your enemy Lexington is mostly running 013, and your planes are quite durable and they are very fast. Midway might be good as well with her limitless planes and a good 2/1/2 setup.

I have a hard time to fight against Saipan sailed in a skilled player's hand with 15 pts captain. My Hiryu only get 3-skill captain. Everytime I saw Saipan, I informed my team 'RIP'. They will cooperate better and win the battle sometimes =)

What do you think about the balance of CV's? I just unlocked the Lexington but compared to the Shokaku, the Lexington is crap. You only get 4 squads in total with the Lexington where the Shokaku gets 6, totally inbalanced in my opinion.

Hi, I am not by far in a place where i can contest your play but i have 3 objections: 1. Your positioning was good but not perfect - in a CV you should always be at the limit of your spotting range from the enemy line, so the planes do the shortest runs possible, wheres you were a bit too far. So your movement was good but i have seen better. 2. It seems like you prioritize the big-hp targets - the BBs, while the pro CV players always try to hunt out the DDs first. 3. A CV hunt at the beginning :) really? It reminded me of my first 50 CV battles where i learn you should never do this because it takes too long to circle the map and it is not a guarantee kill (and you could lose all the planes). You should use this time to do 2 strikes in the front line. Ty, i am AllC0ck in WOWS

However, most people will just heal fires back, and/or wait till the torp bombers arrive. Flooding does WAY more damage per second, and is a real threat if you don't repair it fast. It takes two or three fires to really be a threat, while one flooding can kill if not repaired.
