She does have a very nice voice, but be sure that as a native it is absolutely clear she's going the extra mile to ensure she does speak s-l-o-w-l-y, like, honestly, nobody does. It is a way to smoothly develop the understanding of you all 🙂(What a nice teacher 😉)

My reasons for my interest in the galo are obvious, but I am relieved the galo is not depicted in its asado form.

Ilha Terceira! I know of no actual connection to the mainland. We have been here in California since my grandparents brought their family in the 1920s. Funny thing: My grandfather kept the old-fashioned double-L spelling of the family name, but his brother adopted the reformed single-L spelling. We had no idea the Galo de Barcelos was of such recent vintage, since it's everywhere in California's Azorean community.

That's an interesting comment. I would say that for some maybe, but I never heard that that was the reason why people had a Galo de Barcelos at home. I think that above all it is a symbol of Portugal.
