Sometimes I just hike up a mountain without actually knowing if there is a place suitable for launching. This day was one of those times and I found myself facing my most difficult launch until today. Anyone wants to sponsor me with a new glider? :D
Location: Matzen, Carinthia, Austria

Anyone who hasn’t tried this - it’s not easy to ground handle on a treacherous, self-invented slope with variable winds and rotor-esque launch point. If you think his skills are lacking, you have probably never tried it.

Anyone can fly off a perfectly prepared site. It taskes a true enthusiast to make a new launch site. Love this. Can't tell you how many hours I've spent moving rocks, pulling my glider out of cactus and trees after failed attempts and doing this exact same thing. It is EXHAUSTING! Loved watching this. Thank-you!

When I stumbled across this video i was like "What are you doing!!" then watching the wing fold frontal and having to climb back up to reset it for launch and your frustration as you could see it fold over made me laugh.... but fair play to you sir -you did it!!!

@@bornuponawave Nice Video, but i think there is a little better option with the left and right risers in both hands. With the the risers in one hand, the canopy has to climb good, with risers in the two hands, you could speed uo the glider sides better and launch a little easier. But no question, impressive launch

I relate so much to this as I try a lot of crappy take-offs. There is always something, crappy branches, tall plants, whatever that will get in the lines. Once you fix one side, the other one has a problem. And it is all done, then the wind cycle goes down. Moments of loneliness that are funny afterward...

On a steep take off, when the wing keeps sliding down the terrain, you should carry 5 clothes pegs and some string. You can tie the strings to bushes or rocks, adjust the lengths and tie on your pegs. Attach the pegs on the top surface of the leading edge. It will keep your wing open and in the right place until you are ready to launch. It takes 5 minutes to do it.
