You know what this is so true. It's an invitational, not a playoff. Even though you can say 4 teams in it now is correct to a degree. We say Baylor should be in over UGA due to the conference championship factor. But we all know that doesn't equate to factors of getting INVITED. the whole system is a totalitarian sham. He is an "Ohio Guy" and knows what it takes to win!!..Being an OSU graduate does not hurt and he has shown being exposed to some of the best coaches(Tressel,Meyer),he learned his lessons extremely well..I remember Fickell as a player and a coach at OSU and I can even see him going back to Columbus one day as the "Head Guy"!!!!

Cincinatti is what OSU used to be before Urban. Grabbing the great nearby Ohio, Michigan and Kentucky talent that used to go to Ohio State but can't anymore because Ohio State has switched recruiting to Texas, Florida, Georgia and California for their star players and only offer a hand full of Ohio kids. That's not a bad thing for Ohio State either, they've been in playoff contention every year so it's working, but Cincinatti has filled the void for the local talent.

Cincinnati's football has had great coaches that have gone on to go win national championships, get NFL jobs, etc. Cincinnati also has crazy talent in the high school level that gets sucked up by Ohio State, Notre Dame, etc. This was always seen as possible and plausible by most Cincinnati natives. We just needed a coach that could recruit and not take offers from Notre Dame after saying they won't leave for any money.

When I went to UC I always thought they could be a good football program. The facilities were nice, the campus was nice. There stadium was pretty unique being kinda a bowl in the middle of the campus. I think everyone in Ohio knows Cincinnati has some big time talent. We will see if they can sustain and be that top outside power 5 school like Boise was.

I totally agree with you. in 2021 Cincinnati beat U of Indiana & then Norte Dame at ND. No easy feat. ND went to college play off against Alabama a few years back so they are a great program. Give Cincinnati a chance. I hate to see them play Alabama or Georgia again but they are up there with the BIG BOYS. ( Cincinnati almost beat Georgia in Peach bowl in 2020, so Cincinnati has a chance)

College programs fire coaches way too quickly. A new coach needs at least 5 years to show their worth. You can't turn around a college team over night. You can't just throw money at talent. You have to recruit and build up a program. With your guys, not the last coach's team. You have to show kids why they should choose your team. That takes time. It's really the fans and their win now attitude that's partly at fault.

The Cincinnati Bearcats should be in the CFP poll. They should be ranked top 4. The same stuff is still happening from the college national championship games. The committee is a joke cause the strength of schedule is a joke. Change the way college football teams play each other so everyone would have a chance for the top four through the strength of schedule. Lots of people, including myself, is tired of seeing the same teams in the top four-- Alabama, Ohio State, use to be Clemson an now its Georgia.

Play better competition to prove you deserve to be in the playoffs. 11-0 against a strength of schedule of 102 means nothing to me. Playing in a conference most would consider division 2 schools. Also what a lot of people felt about Ucf and boisie st. Once again stop playing weak schedules and play a few mid to upper teams from other conferences but not the bottom feeders. Don't beat your chest yeah we beat Missouri from the SEC. See bottom feeder. Don't schedule those games but schedule a Auburn or a mich st or a lsu. Steps to respectability for a 11-0 season.

Or even better, what if they just win all games, and become the first team from a non power conference to have a shot at the national title? Go Bearcats! Beat Bama, and you'll practically have a home field advantage for the national championship in Indianapolis, a mere 90 miles from Cincinnati. There have been a lot of blowouts in CFP playoff games, and before that, bcs title games... even when all the teams are from power conferences. Meanwhile, teams like Boise State, Houston, UCF... never get a chance, despite going undefeated, despite winning bowl games against power conference teams, and despite several regular season key wins against top 10 teams. This game isn't just about UC. It's about all those teams that were never given a chance. The Bearcats have already won aajor victory in simply getting here. And it took not just one, but 2 back to back undefeated seasons to do it. To achieve the next victory, they don't even have to win. I get it, schools like Bama get all the money. They can recruit top players based on the reputation of their name alone, regardless of whether they are even good or not. Regardless of whether or not that player will even get to play. Benchwarmers on Bama might have been a star player at some place like UC. Teams like UC don't have that luxury of money or reputation. They built their team from hard work alone. If UC played Bama 10 times, Bama might win 9. And they should, given the recruitment power they have compared to UC. There's a reason some conferences are considered elite, while the rest are not. The elite conferences are consistently better. I'm well aware of this. But this isn't MLB or NBA where you play best out of 7. UC doesn't need to win a whole series of games against Bama. They only have to win 1. And truly, they don't even have to win to achieve a moral victory. They simply need to make a game competitive and exciting, and they will have proven that college football championships should not be limited to only power conference schools. All teams should have a chance.

Congratulations to Cincinnati! They made the playoffs. This team hung together and got better from last year! Two things I see as problems: 1. their field goal kicking game is a problem, they will lose if they miss FG or if the FG is blocked. They missed too many field goals this year and in a tight game, it will spell defeat. 2. Ridder at quarterback seems very good passer but needs to improve his passes when moving out of pocket to his left. Been an excellent season, wish the head coach would stay with Cincinnati , but someone will bid him away!

Well, Cincy will have their chance to prove to the world just how good they are when they meet Alabama in less than a month. The way I have it figured is that Cincy will come out all riled up and pumped and hang for a quarter maybe 2 but Alabama will pull away in the 3rd or 4th quarter out of sheer depth at all positions. I don't see Cincy being able to go the distance as they haven't faced a beast like Bama ever let alone this year. Cincinnati is tough this year because of the Covid year all players received. The top schools like Clemson, ND, and others that have NFL-caliber players would completely ignore the free year. Teams like UC have lesser talent that stuck around for the extra year and this year resulted in a lot of strange outcomes. Cincy had 16 starters return. ND has 8 offensive guys on active NFL rosters. You really think UC would have beaten the Irish if these 8 guys and 3 defensive players had stayed? Pitt's QB is playing for the 6th year!!!!!!!. Fickell has a long way to match Kelly. He may make it if he stays put considering the easy schedule they play.
