The Impossible Vineyards of Cinque Terre | Local Aromas

Benedetta and Valeria set out to explore one of Cinque Terre's impossible vineyards, known for their heroic viticulture, a UNESCO World Heritage practice. In Italy's beautiful coastal region of Liguria, steep hills and mountains plunge directly into the Mediterranean Sea, making mechanization nearly impossible.
We visited Eroico, a historic family vineyard perched high above Vernazza in the stunning Cinque Terre. Luca shared what it's like to cultivate grapes on these steep, rugged cliffs, where most of the vineyard work has to be done by hand. He showed us the meticulous care required to tend to their vines on narrow terraces, embodying the dedication and resilience of heroic viticulture.

Wow! What dedication! Such a beautiful place. It's a shame the walls don't hold better in the rain that he has to keep remaking them. Almost seems like he needs some heavy metal wire to help reinforce the walls before he puts the stones?
