The Incredible Abandoned Rosebrick Plantation House in The Mountains of Tennessee Built in 1840

Explore this beautiful old farmhouse soon to be torn down for a new subdivision along a busy interstate in the mountains of Tennessee. Built in the early 1800’s around 1830-1840. The house supposedly was used as a civil war field hospital as well as briefly used as a headquarters Union Troops. In recent years the house was a dairy farm and now is being sold for lots and a new housing subdivision will most likely take up its place and farm land around it. Definitely! There's many of us that have the interest..... just not the funds.🥺 Sadly, the banks are more apt to give you a loan on a cheesy, poorly built "Ryan homes" home than to give you a loan to restore a historical home.🤦‍♀️ The same reason many classic cars don't get restored.🙁@patriciahollis9803

Thanks so much for the video! It should be illegal to demolish any red brick structure built prior to 1900. These people building horrible post modern high rises would do more for society if they rehabilitated these vacant structures. Look how well these buildings have held up! Structures built prior to 1880 frequented have clear pine beams that are harder than modern concrete. There are techniques in red brick structures that we cannot duplicate today, too. Both of those housed are salvageable. My house was built the same time as that second house and half stucco and half red brick and we’re in the far north. With this weather, it’s hard to keep the house structurally sound. Don’t mind me. I’m a building inspector specializing in historical restoration. It must be frustrating for you when you know some of those buildings can be restored. Again, thanks for your time!

Both those houses are easily renovated and brought up to modern standards. I simply have no idea why they would bulldoze either of them. Both should be saved.

The old way of building and also the materials were so much better than they are now. Shame that they aren't being recycled. I'd love to have some of the wood and mantels!

😢 It is so sad, that they are gonna tear down this at least 170 yr old house! I seen not damage of rot except small place on floor in kitchen! It’s amazing it hasn’t been vandalized, it looks like it has been empty for years. Seems like it wouldn’t be bad to fix for living again since it looks like in such good shape. That’s why this is so heartbreaking to me!! It’s probably being torn down cause of highway and development.😢

The first house was so impressive looking with the grand columns. The staircase was also very grand along with all the fireplaces. The owners of the second house certainly liked wallpaper. Stay safe out there!

I agree these 2 Homes especially the first one from 1800s has stood the test of time and has went thur so much but yet a home of today would not look that good for it's age. Yet they want to destroy history like that. Things like that really upset me. People do not value history, the older generations even families these days. It's all about the all mighty dollars and getting new things and look at me looknat what I got I've got more than you. When we should be going back to family values and what our grandparents taught us.

That Kewanee furnace was probably built about 45 minutes from where I live in Illinois. They went out of business in 2002. Kewanee Boiler 1892-2002 Kewanee,IL

House #1 It seems like the more they tried to modernize the worst things were! Such a shame they painted the brick. It takes a real talent to modernize an old home and still keep its original integrity. All in all, this was a great find and video!

1. For an abandoned old house, it has passed the years in good shape. It's location has condemned it. The original owner had simple tastes in decoration. 2. While having been damaged, this house is also sound. Lack of insulation would make it uncomfortable to live in. They were both well built. Lovely flowers and scenery at the end.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the front of first house. What a historical gem. I want to take the paint off every surface inside the house to see all the wood. I love this house - simple, but solid and spacious. I love it!! I love the simple clean straight lines in everything - the floor, The mantles, the windows , the banister , the stairs, the exterior...❤ this is like a top 3 fav. The second house is very cool too. Pretty perfect old specimen. Absolutely love how original it is still. Gorgeous!

It's too bad. There are too few of these pre Civil War homes left. I hope-with the owner's permission, that some architectural things can be salvaged. Was there any remnant of the old summer kitchen? Wonder if that room with the stairs was servant's quarters? Great, as usual. Thanks, Kappy!

Out with the old,in with the new,the only problem is nothing built today will last as long or be so beautiful!! I love this house,I can't understand why the state of Tennessee didn't have it put on the preservation list considering it's history 🤔 it's such a terrible waste,living that staircase and the big rooms, beautiful scenery,the second house seemed oddly laid out,had an Erie feel to it,as always a great find thanks kappy 💯👍🏼😎

Loved both places! Lots of space in both for big families. Life was so much simpler, where kids could roam the big yard in summer, and lots of space inside for colder times. Another great video Mr Kappy. Thanks for taking me along!😊

It makes me so sad to see the beautiful needle points in the junk that is sure to be destroyed with time and/ or when the place is torn down. Someone put a lot of time and love into making that, and obviously no one wanted it when they were gone. It brought a cold feeling in my heart. It made me wonder…What will happen to all the things I have made with such love and pride that I hang on my wall after I’m gone. Do they really mean anything to my children or grandchildren. When I see draws and boxes of family photos I wonder do anything of or pass we cherish mean the slight to the generations after us boomers. I wonder if there will come a time when those who don’t care now will wish they kept those things..

To be honest, this first house had some beautiful attributes. But it made me feel cold inside during the tour. Something about it, I couldn't put my finger on. You feel anything there? Maybe it's just me. 2nd house brick: wow. I love the brick and woodwork feel here. It has a different feel. But a more neutral energy. Can't figure that out. Beautiful staircase. Some of the rooms felt claustrophobic. Prob because they were smaller. Thanks for the share Kappy.

First House The exterior of this house doesn't look that bad, roof chimneys gutters brick, ect. The storm door on the front door definitely didn't look that old, maybe the last 20 years or so. House 2 I like the wood work. It's definitely rough, but it has a lot of nice character. 16:16, newer roof structure, wasn't expecting that. Someone was trying to save it, recently. 19:10, Newer 200 Amp, Electrical Panel also.

I remember as a little girl, doors were solid wood, and they would swell in damp, humid , conditions. You'd have to take the door down and use a wood plane to get it back to shape.
