Now that the shop build is drawing to an end, the guys are now able to start enjoying the space to work. 1st thing on the list is the farm truck. It needs some paint work, but they didn't know pulling the truck bed off would be such a task.
Plus, we finally reveal the big door opening!
Thanks for watching!

The door is an engineer marvel, most of your viewers don’t work with this stuff so they have no idea how difficult it is to open a door that big and that heavy. I appreciate the knowledge and engineering that goes into a project like that, great job!!!

Rhonda I've followed your videos for many years and I give Kevin and the boys 10 out of 10 for their creative ways of refurbishing machinery and brilliant reuse of building materials. A saying I've had for fifty years is THEY BUILT THE PYRAMIDS WITHOUT COMPUTERS AND MODERN MACHINERY. SO CREATIVE MINDS CAN DO ANYTHING. Also Rhonda your work ethic is also very amazing. Thanks from ol will in Australia 🇦🇺 😀 ❤

Watching the new door in operation and the guys finally getting the truck bed off, most just see the many attempts to achieve the goal. I like to think of the sense of satisfaction gained by the end accomplishment. Love watching success. With the warm temps (mid 60's here today) many are thinking of garden season. Do you think Sanders will put in another sweet corn patch this year? May God bless your family and farm with a safe, healthy and happy week.

Yes the door would be different times with colder weather or hotter weather so that would be not be optimal the timer. I wonder if a pressure relief valve on the hydraulic pressure would be a safety for when opening. If it was froze shut or something was out there and The door hit it could do a lot of a lot of damage on the door. The door looks great though. The design, the work and the engineering you did on it. It was a good testament of you all's ability. I became very interested in the project last year when you started it because a friend of mine and I gold down to bardstown airport to a Drive-In fly in breakfast that the Kentucky State pilots association put on and they are building to hangers down there and one of the doors that goes on one of the hangers is a large door. It's 100 ft. Wide and probably 30 ft. High and it was sitting in pieces out on the tarmac for a week or two and we couldn't figure out what it was and when they got the door put up we were looking at it and we couldn't figure out how it worked and then all of a sudden it clicked to me that it went up like the one you all did and it has a huge trust built on the bottom of the door on the outside for that sagging problem and for the stiffening and wind. I wish I could send you some photos of it that I took, but I can't seem to communicate with you for some reason. I'm sure that you would have thousand 10,000 people wanting to contact you everyday if you put your phone number out or email anyway, great video!

That is very impressive, Kevin and crew. I would agree with installing a relief valve into the system. If your pump puts out enough pressure, you could damage that masterpiece of a door. Or damage the pump. It would also give you protection if your stop switch you want to install failed when the cylinders hit the end of their stroke. Stop switches should eliminate the need for a timer. Would not be hard at all to install one..

It is always good to see you and your projects. I have a small 2305 John Deere and it got sick on me with all of the cold weather. The fuel filter got all jelled up and at the bottom of the bowl was a ice chunk. I normally do not mechanical work but I watched a KZbin video to get a scoop of courage. I had trouble getting the nut back on but the buck arms are in the way. By the grace and mercy of God I got the job done and now it works fine. If I worked on your farm, I am sure that I would be learning new things every day.

I might suggest having the bottom section up to whatever level of snow you might leave at the edge of the barn on a hinge, so that it can open without bending the door even if there's something of a crust of ice and snow right at the bottom of the door. It would also provide some level of safety for anything left in the doorway accidentally.

The door works perfect. Mounting the pump and controls along the side is a great idea. Biggest one being when you have to work on it. Nothing more miserable than working on one mounted on the ceiling. How do I know? As a retired electrician I have worked on a lot of ceiling mounted ones. You need a bucket truck to do so safely. What ever you do not use a timer, experience talking again.

I worked 14 years in hydraulics on aircraft and in my opinion, the cylinders on the door are installed correctly. The lock feature that Kevin speaks of is only on the extended side of the cylinder. If the cylinders are the ones I think they are and were installed the other way, it wouldn't lock when open but would lock when closed. The weight of the door and hydraulic resistance in the system should be enough to secure the door from opening when closed.

Suggestion, when you pour your concrete, place a electrical heat grid the first 3 feet out from the door, just on a switch and timer. Looks like the door scraps close the first 2 or 3 ft., 😡🤬 saves loosing religion chopping ice.(put that in parlor pit floor 18” each side. Feet and legs stayed nice and warm. Very economical to do)👨🏻‍🦳 🐄🐄 🚜 Really like your family’s way of doing things.

Mr. Kevin, have you considered of welding folding legs when you keep it open a good while to help take the pressure off and giving your pistons less wearing out. Raise door a couple of inches higher, kick out the folding legs and get them to a spot where it would interfere with closing of the door, You already have a bottom brace they could be mounted to. The legs could be your second safety features should the door malfunction to close for some reason. Dual purpose for fold out legs that lock in place. Safety always comes first . If the pistons should blow, having the fold out legs is your backup plan. The force of that door closing on it's own could be devastating if someone is under it or a tractor may be crushed if under it. Can't afford having a tractor out of commission due to a accident. Like it is Perfect, just throwing out a idea.
