@@GoodRogue xantcha and ratepe also apparently do the thing in the book planeswalker (i think it's that one) but it's also explicitly discussed several times that she's only a she because she feels that way, and there is no concept of gender for phyrexians otherwise? it's not clear how their physical relationship takes place lol

Such good story in the old days

Reading into the old lore of MTG is such a delightful journey. Learning about Urza, Mishra, Dominaria, Mirrodin, Alara, the Elder Dragons, the original Ravnica, and the first trip to Innistrad is amazing and each has such depth and character development...and now we have The Gatewatch...damn it Wizards what the hell happened to your writing and lore development. Seems like they just gave up.
@papanurgle83935 жыл бұрын
While I 100% agree‚ Urza and co's lore has some stunning WTF moments throughout the whole story *cough* powerstones *cough*. Honestly‚ the entire saga could use a facelift and I'd cream myself for a return to the Brother's War‚ Ice Age and Weatherlight.
@thehairyyam30775 жыл бұрын
@@papanurgle8393 I also love how they wrote Urza as more of an antihero than an actual hero. The dude made some fairly messed up choices and many innocents had to suffer the consequences of his actions. It made him far more "human" and relatable as a character. Not sure where they can take the Weatherlight story from here though. Maybe a seige on New Phyrexia (but without the Gatewatch, haha)? Throne of Eldraine is giving me some hope that Wizards is putting the Gatewatch on the backburner. I do wish they would come out with another in-depth book series. A WELL-WRITTEN ONE, lol. But, I may be asking too much there.

This video is a great example of how good the Magic story used to be. Much darker, much more complex, and much, much more complicated. The story aspect in MtG today pales in comparison to the story of the past in terms of overall quality, and that is a really sad thing. Great video. Looking forward to more.

And how it was released fits in perfectly, the phyrexian mana in a subset, throwing a new mechanic on an old character, so much depth. With all the crap that goes on on the internet between WotC and the customer base, cards like this are what keep an old school player like me buying new cards

Just wanted to let you know that I know your gonna be cutting back on MTG due to the direction the company is going and all, but you make really great content and I always look forward to listening while at work. Maybe you could just only cover the lore and the parts of magic you like. I myself have been trying to get away from focusing on everything because there has been so much negative lately but there's also been so much good too. You gotta do what ever makes you happy though. Either the blind eternities and the mortals can't travel through it was after the Thran or the book made an oopsie. Because there is a planeswalker that Yawgmoth meets and she takes him through the blind eternities which is where he finds Phyrexia originally. Also is it ever discussed who actually made Phyrexia? It was an artificial plane made by some planeswalker who was massively powerful even back then.
@JBergmansson5 жыл бұрын
The lore was less consistent then I guess. Also it was befoere the mending, so planeswalkers had all kinds of wacky powers.
@KokNoker5 жыл бұрын
It's implies that the dragon they found dead in the core was the creator

Walkers use to be able to do a bunch of crazy shit‚ including planeshifting others into the eternities and crafting pocket dimensions almost on a whim (though even then Walkers abilities were incredibly inconsistent).

@@papanurgle8393 True enough but wasn't didn't the mending and such happen after the battle between Phyrexia and Dominaria? So shouldn't Urza have had the same crazy powers as past Planeswalkers?
