DESPITE being born with an incredibly painful skin disease - the same disease that killed his older brother, Marky Jaquez is hoping to inspire others with his positive outlook on life. Marky, 19, was born with Epidermolysis Bullosa, often referred to as EB. The condition affects anywhere that he has skin and internally too, such as his eyes, mouth and organs. Marky’s skin is so fragile it could blister with the slightest touch.

@@maxplank2769 I think that's something that's up to the individual suffering the pain. I also think assisted suicide is a treatment we should all have the right to choose, here in America. As a nurse, I've had several patients who would have made that decision, and it would have given them control over their life and death, allowing them to die with dignity. So many just hung on for weeks, suffering pain I couldn't even begin to imagine.
@boogiemonstermom677
@boogiemonstermom677 4 жыл бұрын
@@IAmSuzyQ I totally agree with this. I think it's pretty obvious this boy wants to live, but I do feel assisted suicide should be a legal choice for those who don't, or feel they just can't anymore. Our bodies are ours, and we should have full autonomy over them.
@IAmSuzyQ
@IAmSuzyQ 4 жыл бұрын
@@boogiemonstermom677 Yes, absolutely! I've always found it to be odd that anyone would have the right to force another human to keep living, against their will. I think it's important for the person considering suicide, to first receive therapy, and to try medication before being granted assisted suicide, because through those interventions they might find happiness and the will to go on, but of not, let them go. How dare we force someone to live a life of misery, while we just make that decision for them, then just walk away. It's cruel. And when it comes to cancer and other fatal conditions, the decision to die with dignity should be given to that person. No one should have to suffer a slow and painful death.

I think it's important for parents to do a genetic test if it just in case they carry any diseases that can be passed on to their kids. It's one thing one parent carries it, but it's way worse when both have it, the kid gets the worst of it.
@SpeedDemonStar
@SpeedDemonStar 4 жыл бұрын
Genetic testing is, unfortunately, still extremely expensive and as such, isn't affordable for most people. One alternative is to look deep into family history to check for such conditions (one way is to make a "medical family tree"), but medical records weren't as common or thorough just a few decades ago as they are now, so it's not always easy, particularly if the fetus never made it to term or the child died before school age and if you don't know all of your family members, that might be made more difficult, but in many cases, it is doable.
@numbers1812

So if two people love one and other and they share a gene that could possibly cause a disease in a child they conceive the parents should not be allowed to have a child like Marky?
@nikkids4266
@nikkids4266 4 жыл бұрын
I too wish this was possible. But as its been mentioned it’s still too expensive to do genetic testing especially here in the US where you practically need a referral just to sneeze 🤧 🙄. I know firsthand cuz my daughter was born with albinism. No one on both sides had in any memory knowing of this happening. You see both parents must carry the recessive gene and then there’s a 25% chance of each birth having albinism. We were offered genetic testing AFTER she was born, cuz there was warrant for it then. But sadly not before\. Don’t get me wrong my kid is amazing! Honors and early college despite being legally blind (has limited vision).

Areyousaying idontknowmyname As someone that’s agnostic, I find your comment quite disgusting and the reason why atheists are looked down upon. One could argue that the lord placed this burden upon this young man because of his incredible strength, I don’t know a single person that could deal with half the pain this young man handles and still be a compassionate person. This young man is a gift to our society for spreading awareness about a serious condition and displaying strength that exemplifies the utter greatness of the human spirit. Someone asking for blessings for another person is an expression of love and compassion for their fellow man, and to mock that is quite frankly pathetic.

@@Areyousayingidontknowmyname If you were agnostic then you wouldn't have said something so heinously ignorant. Your initial comment reeks of narcissistic self-importance that is deeply rooted in atheism, and it's clearly identifiable in this response. I wouldn't be surprised if you learned the word Agnostic from researching my first response to you. You haven't a clue about the concept of faith, which is exemplified in your latter comment. Can't have it both ways? Have you ever done any research at all into the association between suffering and theological beliefs, particularly those of the Abrahamic religions?? Clearly not. Take your short-sighted, ignorant, and down-right offensive self somewhere else. You're completely frivolous, and it's truly pathetic that your jealous of this young man provoked such an ugly expression against someone's faith.

Or selfish? They had a child with the same condition and that child died, they knew the risks of having an other kid, and decided to do so anyway, and all they did was bring in a life of pure pain and suffering. There are so many children that need adopting, and these people decided it would be better to have an other kid with their broken genetics instead of make an other childs life better So not only did they NOT help a child by adopting them, but they damned their own child to a life of suffering just because they wanted children related to them Selfish, selfish people. That man (he's 20, so he's a man now) deserves better parents than ones who basically chose this life for him.

TheRubinator13 i would normally agree with this but they were only 13 months apart. and the first son didn’t die BEFORE the other son was born. in general i do usually frown upon people having children when they KNOW they have such a high chance of them having complications.

Marky was not the first case of "the butterfly disease" before him it was Johnny Kennedy from England I believe. When life gets them down they get back up and they still enjoy life as it is. I could never imagine being in the most intense of pain every day I get up I would feel the need just to be down. This young man is probably the strongest I've seen. Rest in peace marky you were so loved and still is in spirit ❤️

I can’t lie... That made me cry. Of course seeing the suffering he has to deal is sad, but the main reason was because of how absolutely beautiful he is. The video was less than 7 minutes but there is no doubt in my heart how truly unique and special he is. His mom is magnificent, and the rest of his family (including the adorable dogs) I know must be, too. My thanks to that family for making the world a better place simply for just existing and making the most out of it. Inspirational.

Everyone don’t think of EB as a tremendous burden but in some ways a gift. Sure it must hurt like hell but the people who have this are some of the bravest and kindest people I have ever come across and have been told by others to me. Yes I have it to and I’m not talking from just experience but for those I have met and watched videos about.

I did not know this child, and I don’t know his family, but I feel very connected. I can barely make this post right now because of the tears and the lump in my throat. God bless Marky and his brother Bubba’s family. I lost granddaughter from liver failure caused by lupus at age 35 and that was hard to watch her suffer for five years. I can’t imagine what this child and family went through all those years. My love goes out to you all. God bless.

This is so sad 😢. What a horrible way to have to live. My only question is if she had one child with this genetic condition, why did she bring another child into the world, knowing there was a big possibility the next child could have it too. You shouldn't bring a child into the world to suffer.
