The Incredible Transformation Of Dawn Our Most Traumatised Bear 🥰 | Animals Asia

Dawn was one of the most traumatised bears we'd ever seen in Animals Asia's 25 years of bear rescue.
Forced into a barren cage when she was just a cub, the next 20 years of her life was spent languishing in the same spot, day after day, year after year. She was a victim of the bear bile farming industry in Vietnam, thankfully an industry which has since been outlawed.
Animals Asia rescued Dawn one year ago today. And she was in a terrible condition - so bad we feared we'd never get through to her.
And yet... with love, patience, and the healing powers of nature, good food, and friendship, Dawn has transformed into a happy, contented, inquisitive bear!

I look at this bear with tears in my eyes... I remember Jill saying, "I hope one day I'll have the honor to show you how Dawn goes outside for the first time to feel the grass with her toes, make friends barefoot, just feel the sunlight and learn what it means to be a BEAR." God I love Dawn. I've got happy tears rolling down my face. She was so tentative when she first stepped out into the sanctuary, so traumatised. But look at her now. First out in the mornings! I remember watching Dawn, being introduced to Midnight, and how she surprised everybody, by wanting to play, and they played for hours, nobody dreamt she could be playful bless her. I had questions for the behaviorist and she took the time to explain the plan - I believe it was for Dawn. As a behaviorist myself I understood her being in a small cage initially but found it difficult to accept on an emotional level. This was so carefully planned and executed that no one would've known how serious her condition actually was. You all are amazing - thank you for helping Dawn to heal and connect with her true self again
