The MidLife Card Community came through, yet again, with some really amazing PC pickups last month. The community show and tell episode is one that I look forward to each month, and opening the scans of the cards is like a kid on Christmas morning. It's fun to share our collecting additions with other in the community and share in the excitement of our fellow card collectors. This month there were cards of Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Honus Wagner, Mickey Mantle, Hank Aaron and more. Whether it's a Rookie Card or not, there are always a wave of awesome cards to enjoy in these episodes.
In this episode, I reference some 1928 Ice Cream and Bread cards that I discuss in a recent episode. Here is a link to that episode: • I Bought An Insanely R...

Love the video! I especially liked the Wilt Chamberlain and Roger Federer cards. Don’t see those every day. The new format without prices works well. You can go through a lot more cards this way. Between you and Mike, from chasing cardboard, I am starting to really enjoy the old vintage cards. I got inspired and picked up some pre-1970’s football cards and a little known Yankee (my dad played golf with him). I got a few baseball reprints, Micky Mantle, because I can’t afford the real things. Thanks again for all of your videos !!!

The Clemente with the inscription is the greatest card I’ve seen in a loooooong time. I guarantee that was a dad or a coach (or both) who wrote those instructions on that card to teach their kid to swing like Roberto. UNBELIEVABLY cool.

Another amazing MidLife Community Pick-Ups Video -- your 5th installment of this series?! Jim's '72 Pete Rose In Action is a sneaky tough card in a PSA 9; Jason's Cy Young Portrait PSA 3 looks significantly undergraded. Wowzer!; David's '48 Leaf Ruth in a PSA 7 (that looks like an 8!); Petty's Wagner -- My Lord! What a card!!!; Juho with '76 Walter Payton (the most undervalued (!) of the iconic high value football cards! -- that card is poised to go much higher in the next decade); Tony -- please share the story behind the 1917 Boston Store Shoeless Joe in a PSA 2.5!!; and Keith with the most gorgeous '49 Bowman Musial that a collector could hope to own! And . . . Graig with a PSA 10 collection of dedicated and loyal viewers! Keep this series alive. It's a visual treat every month.

Hey there Graig your pickups show has become one of my faveorite episodes that you do. I have to admit I do like seeing the prices though not for how expensive some of the cards are but for some of the great deals people get like I got on that 59 Topps Jim Brown that was my first submission on your show. Thanks for doing this feature its fun to see the card we submit to you and hearing your comments about them. I will keep em coming. Thanks again for your show man I love it.

I feel you Keegan. . It's just human nature to want what others have. The average collector has a set budget, and is unlikely to have Ruth's, Gehrig's, Cobbs in their collection. Those are museum cards. But it doesn't mean that we can't have other quality players/cards in our collection too, though.

I’m glad u r in that mode of card shows being about connecting with people… however,, the reality in the card hobby is 99% of us are on islands… we know nobody other then watching some utube videos like this… I go to many card shows.. 99% are like me they know no one and just walk the floor looking for cards…. at work and everyday life they know no one that collects cards.. its actually a very lonely hobby but for me a fun one as I love my collection but yeah dont know anyone in the hobby… no connections with people and I think that is 99% of the hobby..

i agree lee Haskins... I've met just 1 youtuber, that has a channel. Chris Sewall. Baseball collector investor dealer. But they, live less than an hour away. While card collecting (hobby) isn't dead...there, is a greater likelihood however you, would have a better chance, in your every day life being able to find people that play video games, watch movies, concerts, even reading books, or whatever format people read these days...when it comes to younger generation-- I'm not fully convinced that they will have as a strong passion or interest in collecting cards like ''we'' did during the junk wax era and the generations before that. Maybe though if they have a parent who also collects perhaps. As for me, I just collect for myself. Covid boom not only inflated the price of older cards, but also, the modern, and ultra modern. Inexperienced collectors sent out cards for grading, that are now worth less than the slab itself. I know the original comment was about the social aspect, though. Maybe it's because i don't post videos, and just been a long timer viewer and commentor...I haven't appeared on camera in any of the live streams. So I at times I do feel like I don't belong or something, and feel out of place..
@leehaskins307

@@ACD1994 good comment. Yeah I see a few of the utubers at shows but they seem to busy to talk. In there videos they say they enjoy meeting new people but if I say to them hey I like ur videos they give me a thanx shake ur hand and move on. I know none at my work or friends that collect cards. So for me it’s a loner hobby by myself and sometimes get upset when the utubers talk about shows being more about the friends and meeting each other. For the majority like me it is NOT.
