Something to notice. When Mr. Incredible is telling Buddy he works alone, he's got Bomb Voyage up against a wall and is restraining him. When Syndrome is recalling that moment to Bob, Bomb Voyage is nowhere to be seen and Mr. Incredible is looming over him. This is help show Syndrome's subjective and warped viewpoint.

Buddy offed all Mr. Incredible's friends one by one to create the ultimate bot and prove him wrong about "working alone" (Nomanisan Island = "No man is an island"). Frozone was supposed to be next, that's why the robot took the battle to the volcano. Gazerbeam was the only one to defeat the robot once and see the password before the upgraded version got him.

Each of the main characters has superpowers which complement their personalities: ~ Bob is the foundation of the family and set in his ways; hence, he's incredibly strong and virtually indestructible ~ Helen is very maternal and a versatile homemaker; hence, she's very elastic, highly resilient, and extremely flexible ~ Violet is timid, shy, and extremely vulnerable; hence, she is able to turn invisible and create protective force fields ~ Dash is the poster child for Ritalin; hence, he has boundless energy and incredibly fast ~ Lucius is easy-going and the epitome of coolness; hence, he has versatile ice powers Syndrome's lair is on Nomanisan Island, referencing John Donne's 1624 prose "No Man is an Island". This theme is central to Bob's character arc. The two old men at the end are caricatures of and voiced by Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston, the last of the "Nine Old Men" - the core group of animators who put Disney on the map with classic animated movies beginning with Snow White. Brad Bird toured Disney studios as a child (11) and fell in love with animation. Milt Kahl (another of the Nine Old Men) later personally mentored Bird (then 14) and helped him obtain a scholarship through Disney to attend Cal Arts. Brad Bird has since found a way to include and/or reference the Nine Old Men at every opportunity. As Brad Bird's first production with PIXAR, he was unaware of the significance of the Pizza Planet truck - making The Incredibles the *ONLY* PIXAR film (thus far) to not include it. As production was wrapping up, he learned of both this and John Ratzenberger being PIXAR's "lucky charm". While he was unable to work the Pizza Planet truck into the final movie, he added the closing scene with the Underminer at the last moment for the sole purpose of providing Ratzenberger with a speaking role in the movie.

36:27 Syndrome's death is probably the most grousome brutal villan death from a Pixar, they really made sure he was death for good
@MageBurger
@MageBurger 7 ай бұрын
An underrated part of certain character deaths is the “oh no…” moment beforehand, especially with a character as egotistical as Syndrome. That “oh no” contrasting the sense of immortality is almost like their very instincts KNOW THEY WILL DIE. Also yeah, being sucked into a jet turbine followed by being caught in a massive explosion does a pretty good chunk of the work.

I remember seeing this movie in theaters when it came out. The music score for the movie is crazy on movie theater stereos. That trumpet parts especially. Great movie. Great music. Definitely timeless. If you get a chance, jam out to the soundtrack. You won’t regret it. It was written by Michael Giacchino who has done the score for several major Hollywood blockbusters. Really enjoyed his score for Rogue One as well. He pulled that one off in four months.

Did you know that they offered Brad Bird the chance to direct Star Wars Episode VII, the force awakens... and he turned it down? (I think they were right in offering it to him - they wanted the best of the best of the best. He wanted to do Incredibles 2, ...and it's hard to blame him. Episode 7 turned out nicely (it was the most solid of the Disney trilogy); but if someone else had directed 'Incredibles 2,' that would have felt way wrong.)

Am I the only one who wants to know more about all of the heroes killed during Operation Kronos? I know there are the NSA files on each of them, and that the second movie has a deleted scene with an eulogy to Gazerbeam (dude whose skeleton was found in the cave, the one who carved the word in the rocks) and a book on Elastigirl’s past (in which some are featured) but I still need more. What were their undercover lives like? How were they as people? How was their approach to being super? How did they get defeated? For a writer, this is a whole ass banquet (and as a writer myself, I’m very tempted to explore this idea).

This is such a quick moment that I am sure most people don't think of it as notable: This movie came out not long after my mother and I were in a very similar car wreck -- she overcorrected on the freeway, car rolled three times before coming to a stop. Needless to say, when they "land" the van in this, we were both a bit triggered and needed a moment. Her moreso than me because I was knocked out as soon as we hit the curb, but she was awake through the whole thing. All that to say we agree that the physics and the shot composition in that scene was very well done. Felt like we were there. Two thumbs up, would still take a movie depiction over experiencing it in real life again.

24:12 So, fun fact about this sequence: in an earlier draft of the script, the person that Helen got the jet from (named Snug Porter) was supposed to also fly it for her, and he would've died because of the missiles. That aspect was eventually cut from the script because getting the audience to care about his death took too much time and focus away from the family, and Brad Bird (despite wanting somebody to be lost in the crash) also realized that having Helen be the sole person responsible for her kids' safety worked better for the scene. However, a remnant of that draft made it into the final cut, in the form of Helen pausing to watch the wreckage of the plane as it sinks.

You don't have to tell me the insurance companies aren't my friend. While it's health insurance, I keep having to switch effective MS medications because the insurance company suddenly decides it doesn't want to cover it anymore, but doesn't give any alternatives for me or the doctor and I can't pay $7000 a month. Thankfully the drug manufacturer will cover the full cost for a couple months. And of course I'm still on my parent's plan so I don't want to know how much I'm going to have to pay when I get my own insurance with a preexisting condition

Hi Alex. When you watch the 2nd one. Please make sure your editor puts up a warning about light sensitivity and epilepsy. A lot of strobe lights in that movie. Thanks.

Fun theory about The Incredibles (short version) - All Supers are people from the military that the government selected to be in a special program that gave them super powers. This is why no villains have superpowers, only good guys. This is why Elastigirl can fly a plane and knows all the correct lingo. Her and Mr. Incredible also show other military/espionage skills throughout the movie. Since Supers aren't naturally occurring, the only reason the kids have powers is because both of their parents have the "Super Gene". There's more little things but that's the main idea. If you want an additional scene from this movie you should watch 'Jack-Jack Attack'. This is what happened while Jack-Jack was being babysat. Thanks for the reaction!
