Great series that tells the truth about the British Empire. This should be part of every school curriculum in Britain.

So what's going to happen to parts of the curriculum about tyrants, murderers, slave traders, rapists, pirates like captain Cook and Columbus they make our kids believe were hero's?

You guys should make more of these episodes for events all around the world. The brief overview of these stories are extremely informative regardless of their short length. Also, kudos to the editors. Good work.

2:29 - most important point. The British had Gun ships sailing across Ganga. That tells you the advanced weapons that they used. I had not heard of this before. Think how much we don't know.

I take the reported figures of looting with a grain of salt. The accounting is not clear. Looting happened, but most of India's taxes were used for war, not stolen in a conventional sense.

We call it the First war of Independence (1857). The British like to tone it down and call it a rebellion. (Not my opinion, its a fact)
@charananekibalijaun88373 жыл бұрын
Parts of one of the 3 British Indian armies rebelled, the Bengal Army. Madras Army and Bombay Army weren't bothered. Why call it first war of independence? It was a mutiny of Brahmins and Kshatriyas of the Bengal Army.
