Here are my 2 cents. I am a member at sxf. The only thing that I do like from this brand is the tshirt bra although that one teared after 1 year of owning. The panties ripped after the first wear. The lingerie is very poor quality sometimes but they do have very good lace material. Usually when I mention this, her fans come for me and think me not liking the brand equals me not supporting "diversity". Every brand needs to stand for SOMETHING and whatever they stand for simply is a marketing strategy. To me sxf seems to be doing fine because it IS rih's brand or more like she is the face of it. Compared to VS, Hunkemöller or even h&m , SXF is not MY first choice because it is pretty pricey for the cheap quality Oh and they deleted my low ratings too on their website😅😅

Yes! I was so excited for the t-shirt bras! I loved how the back strap was lower so it didn't squish or bulge anything like VS ones did. I always thought it looked like I had back fat with other brands. But as you said, mine fell apart in no more than a year of getting them.

The subscription savage x fenty definitely caused them to fail. Many have tried to cancel and have still been charged. The brand also doesn’t have any identity in terms of design. Every collection looks completely different and they make, lingerie, sports wear, clothing etc. Just too broad to attract loyal customers, the quality is also questionable. The fenty show was a great idea, but wasn’t enough to save the brand.

The only celebrity clothing brand that I believe has succeeded is Victoria Beckham, who wholeheartedly embraced her love for fashion and made it her primary focus. Good American also deserves credit, with Grede's remarkable business acumen likely contributing to their success. However, many other "celeb" brands tend to disrupt the market and erode customer trust. A clothing brand cannot simply be a hobby or a trendy project; true success requires unwavering passion and dedication.

Rihanna's fans (Beyoncé's too) always throw a tantrum when someone has complaints about quality issues because of this goddess-like imagine they've built. The other day I saw someone complaining about their seat view in the Renaissance World Tour having no side screens in the stage or whatever. Have in mind this person did it in a very respectful way...kickly her fans started to say stuff like "BE GRATEFUL you're seeing her". Excuse me?! 70% of their ads show models in bras that look horribly, uncomfortably ill-fitting. Not a company I trust to make bras that actually fit me. Any brand that has models in clothes that don't fit them is a huge red flag, but extra so for lingerie.
@jacquelinealbin7712
@jacquelinealbin7712 Жыл бұрын
Like. I'm a plus size woman. I'm arguably who they are trying to pander to. But them squeezing the models into bras that spill over shows that they want to show plus size money without properly designing plus size garments that fit plus size bodies. And a lot of it comes across as still being very male gaze-y. Opting for too-small bras that create more cleavage instead of fitting comfortably, putting aesthetics clearly over comfort and what women actually want when buying bras (and repeat-buying bras from a brand they're semi loyal to).

It's honestly not surprising. I was excited when the brand dropped and was in serious need of new bras. I didn't want to buy from Victoria's secret after learning more about the brand, so I jumped on it... the SXF bras I got barely lasted a year before they started coming apart, the padding in the bra cup coming out, and the little rose gold clasp and other parts started leaving green staining. So disappointing because I loved the cut when I first got them, and the back strap was lower, so it didn't squish up the skin behind your underarms to look like back fat. It was so cheaply made, and then when their antithetical practices came out, well...

I’m surprised that VS lost so much business. I still own a black T-shirt bra from 2016, I put it through the wash regularly and it still looks new. My issue was the downfall of VS because of “body shaming” while Savage X Fenty kept promising a storefront that never happened. Personally I can’t buy lingerie online because panties/bras fit differently based on the fabric.
@frumtheground
@frumtheground Жыл бұрын
@WhatIShayyy Don't get me wrong, I'm back to wearing VS! At least until I find something I like better. The quality was always there. If I was the same size, I'd still be wearing the bras I wore in my early 20s. They really do last. It wasn't really the body shaming that I had a problem with, though I'm not a fan of it either. It's my feeling that VS was always marketed a certain way, and it was falling out of favor regardless, but body shaming is also part of the modeling industry. It's not ok, but it's like telling a cat to stop being a cat. The branding was outdated, and it showed. But being "body positive" for the sake of marketing and not actually committing to it isn't that much better imo. I just didn't want to support Les Wexler, and I think a lot of people were disturbed by some of the things that came out about him. And since he still owns the brand and several others, I still don't want to support the brand. People should buy what they like regardless of the owner or what they can or can't afford it. Marketing needs to reflect the times, tho. And it felt like VS was stuck in the early 2000s. It was more of the same every year. Granted, it had brand recognition, which is also really important, but it doesn't hold that importance if it's no longer bringing people in. The new direction they've gone isn't that interesting either. It's just doing what a lot of other brands are trying to do right now.

Great video! I've never tried Savage X Fenty, the subscription element was actually one of the things that deterred me. I think the inclusivity element of the fashion shows was what really brought people in because that's something a lot of people value (we saw different body sizes, genders etc which felt empowering) and I feel like that was enough for people to overlook cost/quality along with having rihanna as the face of the brand. It was interesting to hear about the business being made to fail but then also that it's worth a billion and they're opening physical stores, it will be interesting to see what happens in the next couple of years especially as rihanna has stepped down as CEO.

Rihanna doesn't care about this bag. I went into a VS store over the weekend and I have to say, much like Abercrombie, they really have heard the voice of the consumer and changed the marketing of their products to be way more inclusive. There was acrtually one bra that was so gorgeous that I actaully wanted to buy it and I haven't bought bras from VS since high school. I also think they're targeting a more mature woman as well so that might bring in all the customers who aren't into Savage x Fenty products. Not only that but several employees welcomed me with warmth and always made sure to talk to them if I needed help. It's details like that that keep a brand afloat. honestly I think one of their big downfalls is that social media has been so oversaturated with pictures of people in the brand's lingerie that it no longer feels special whatsoever, imo something rlly loses its intimacy when its so broadly known and that's especially important when it comes to undergarments--at least for me, I love the diversity of their campaigns but the majority of their designs do not in any way capture sensuality and embody a very fashion nova-esque heavy handed sexuality that feels simultaneously cheap, tacky and uninspiring, Best way I can describe it is they are the brand equivalent of showing a ton of cleavage and they entirely fail to capture the element tease that something like an open back dress provides, when all is shown nothing is longed for and it lands the brand into costume territory for me

One would think after all the social media exposure of the star system, people would be able to see past the celebrity endorsement, the “inclusivity” rhetoric, political correctness, “sustainable” practices, the influencers’ sponsorships and the rest of marketing tricks.. Corporations will support ANYTHING if that makes more sales. And Rihana is just a girl who wants all the diamonds she can get her hands on. In reality there will NEVER be anything relatable about her. People can spend their hard-earned money any way the can, but they should do it in an informed&clear-minded way at least. Every one of them lies through their teeth just to make money quickly on our expense, and yet we still look up to them. 😒

Man I remember being being so excited about supporting this brand when it was first released. I also remember all the backlash it got from the get go because the product on the website wasn’t anything “unique” or “special”. I still want to support it because she’s one of the few celebrities I really like. But I do remember buying products from them and was ultimately disappointed especially with the packaging. I got the correct bra sizing, but when I tried it on the bra was not only cheap feeling, but it didn’t fit me at all. So also, their sizing’s were off and they weren’t very big boob friendly. Lastly, the subscription setup is frustrating as well. After that I just never bought anything else from that brand. On a positive note, I do like the underwear though. But the underwear ended up tearing and ripping after a year. But I do think the brand is very inconsistent when it comes to quality of their products and overpriced.

I find it disheartening when any brand makes a product that is meant to fail or break after a period of time, regardless of the industry, as this planned obsolescence is a clear signifier that they dont care about their product nor customer, that they just care about making money. Unfortunately with the Bernard Arnault-ification this has come to most luxury goods these days, but isnt exclusive to fashion. Things from apple products to skincare thats made with bad ingredients to keep you needing more, its all a huge frustration to me.

@understitchYT yes. Like store credits. But the subscription service online really bothers me. If I let you take $50 from me. I'd like to get $50 worth of items. I bought some slippers from fenty. They were $12, they used my $50 credit. Not cool

Rihanna was an ultra-manufactured industry plant from the very beginning. Her musical artistry was limited at best and her music was generic pop. Her only assets were her looks and her charisma. The inclusivity gimmick was just a branding tool that capitalized on the subjective moral whims of the public.

I was almost lured into a SXF membership but...the price point combined with the rave reviews by paid sponsors made me skeptical. Usually something at their price point , is not of the OUTSTANDING quality the paid sponsors made it seem like it was. I'm glad I held off. Call me old fashion but, I'd rather continue to buy my underwear from department stores where I can feel and try on the product. aaaand I still have Victoria Secret undies from YEARS ago that I still faithfully wear. VS is sketchy AF but you cant deny their product quality.

There were SO MANY paid sponsors too, and they all said glowingly positive reviews, which contrasted too much to the unpaid reviews. It was the juxtaposition for me tbh, if they had paid for honest reviews it would be less obvious that they had no faith in their own product

I’m a Rih fan but I will admit, I do not like sxf. My mom bought me house slippers & matching shorts last Christmas. The slippers busted after about 4-5 months along with the sports bra clasp that has now broke. Ive had bras for YEAAARS and never had a problem whole clasp break…. Poor quality and the weird subscription trap has turned me off completely. I use the foundation and make sure to caution myself if my skin start acting funny.

I (not speaking for my channel, only for me Kendell-Kerwin) rarely buy any clothes via online retail or stores - 95% of my wardrobe is from a Salvation Army store (except for underwear, socks). You could often find brands like DKNY, Brooks Brothers, Theory, Paul & Shark, Yves Saint Laurent (often brand new) and many labels that are unknown yet great. I don't believe in buying based on a name (especially not celebrity endorsed), rather based on quality. I usually avoid popular & never wear anything with a high-visible logo (not an easy way to live). I did buy a Yukata kimono with some accessories for my wife, but so far that's it (it's made by a Chinese company, I think). Real Kimonos are very expensive, and usually handmade - one day I hope to buy a few (from Japanese makers) for my wife and support a real art form. This is a lot of words and I've been drinking. Online retail is good, though buy from small retailers without a celebrity endorsement, take a chance if you can return it. Hell, buy art as well, plenty of that out there to.

If you want to get a kimono for cheap, I recommend just going to Japan or to Korea, where they often have them extremely cheaply in secondhand shops 🥰 I bought four in Korea for less than $10

I ordered from them once and the quality was trash. Honestly the membership turned me off from the start. I never joined but I was told that they make it extremely difficult to cancel. It just didn't make sense to me as a consumer. I've been waiting for people to get real about her lingerie. It's particularly sad because I love Rih and really wanted to support her. I usually regard her as one of the few celebs who care about what they put out, and I still see her that way generally, but Savage x Fenty has been disappointing from the start and I'm honestly surprised it survived this long. Her celebrity is powerful but no one can continue to purchase trash... she had sooo much time to fix this... very disappointing...

She could've had a great product. The promotion worked but the one thing they had to do, they failed. Can someone explain why some companies get huge amounts of money from investors but put out bad products?
@understitchYT
@understitchYT Жыл бұрын
Its because of a few things. Usually when they give investor presentations they will have to talk about their price point and positioning, if theyre quantity or quality, their margins and their projections. This is pretty much the minimum and its what gets the brand the go ahead with funding. Purposely making the product worse, or in some companies case planned obsolescence, gives them bigger margins, affects their growth projections and so usually helps guarantee the business will succeed, therefore getting them more money from investors

I’m still a member of sxf and I’ll be real when the deals work they’re worth it. I forgot to pay in the earlier years around 2019/2020 and they gave me 2 credits (worth $120) . Good customer service and vip bundles worth $49-60 will get repeat customers plus new clients. I just put a reminder every 3rd day in the month to not get charged. You’re saying it’s going to fail but it’s more than likely the brand will tie into the beauty/hai/home decor lines. Which would possibly make for another rebrand. Truly limitless
