Funny how Nancy laughed at Peggy and said Hank was a good man but not sexy at all, but when Peggy drugged Hank with testosterone and he gained a bit of muscle, Nancy was checking him out and giggling flirtatiously whenever he spoke to her. That woman was open for business.

She would have slept with Hank if he were the type to allow it. That showed Nancy has a type and why she was messing with Redcorn in the first place also it shows that She was never physically attracted to Dale.

@@60wwediva Nancy obviously has a domination fetish probably married Dale because she could dominate him. The relationship with John Redcorn was a domination and physical relationship she gets to psychologically dominate Dale while being physically dominated by John. The biggest clue is when she stopped the relationship with John when Dale started showing his dominance capability on the domestic level.

I took the "I just want to make the world a better place" line as her tricking herself into believing she has good intentions. She justifies what she did out of greed by telling herself it's for the greater good, which is definitely something real people do all the time. I don't think you're supposed to sympathize with her, it's just a way of communicating that she's in denial about her intentions. A good line to make her even more hateable.

Honestly, the way she says it is the tell all. It's delivered almost sarcastically, as if to let the audience know she's being ironic. She knows the real reason, but she's placating to a bunch of concerned citizens.

The only part of that i'd disagree with, is the idea she's in denial. she seemed very aware of her actions and her decisions. It came off more like her simply trying to create a plausible deniability arguement so she was shielded incase anyone accused her of malicious intent. A sort of "think of the children" defense.

@@antirevomag834 I don't remember the context of the scene, so I saw it as her talking mostly to herself. In context it might be a lot clearer that she's talking to someone else. Nancy is definitely evil. But I love fan theory that Dale knows Joseph isn't his son, and is intentionally keeping him away from Redcorn, making Joseph give him son's love instead of John getting it. Then seducing Nancy away from John just to ad insult to injury. Oh, and since Nancy makes much more $, than Dale he encourages her career to benefit from it. Dale's not evil, he's just getting even. This episode where Dale encourages her to be away, proves this even more.

@@stingerjohnny9951 while this is true, it's not really a refutation of the point. If her alcoholism was made worse by her negative qualities in some way, then this would make more sense. As someone who honestly doesn't prescribe to the "Dale knew" theory, I always liked to take the "you're a genius at making something out of nothing" line as Dale either: 1. Referencing his possible belief that Joseph as conceived by aliens 2. Dale is being more heartfelt in saying that he attributes all of Joseph's good point to Nancy (i.e. Joseph is worthless as 'Dale's son,' but as 'Nancy's son,' he is worth his weight in gold) It would make a cute amount of sense either way, since it shows Dale's unwavering, religious confidence in his wife's talent as miracle worker, potentially literally. I genuinely love how Dale is the most childish person here, but also the most loving and affectionate, and is willing to ruin himself several times over to make his wife and child happy, and it is equally as moving to see Joseph pick up on that and follow suit.

The whole point of Nancy is that she is a bad person with a charming personality on the surface but does have some selfless moments with her family. She feels more like a real person. I enjoy when shows make a character who is a despicable person actually interesting to follow as a protagonist. Protagonists don’t necessarily have to be wholly good but interesting enough to care about their journey. Nancy and Redcorn are awful people but their antics are entertaining and make you want to follow through and learn more. Same goes for Peggy. And even better when Nancy finally realizes what she has, and makes the better choice in the end. Rather than someone just getting the comeuppance, its a shift of character and eagerness to change that makes a character more interesting. When Nancy finally breaks off her affair with John Redcorn; you can tell its a difficult decision. She loves Dale, but also loves John. One is a wonderful lover and "mostly" normal person, the other is a zany, paranoid, and loyal husband. Nancy isn't a good person, hell. Nobody in King of the Hill are "Good" people. They're humans like us all who make good, bad, and questionable decisions and live with their consequences. Nancy is a cheater who turns her lustful pursuit away for her family. I personally despise Nancy because, having been cheated on, I can't stand people who would do it to others. I admit it: I'm biased. Cheaters are objectively horrible selfish people who do so because they want to and do not want to deal with the ramifications of discussing their feelings / desires with their significant others. I also despise her because she does so for years to a man who, while a walking dumpster fire, is still fundamentally a good person with morals and usually (this episode's somewhat selfish reason nonwithstanding) is a devoted, supportive spouse. She's also shown, several times in the show, to be a TERRIBLE mother, again because she's selfish and focused on what she wants more than what's best for her son. Uggggh....Nancy is just the freaking worst.

That's really lame, man. Hopefully you're doing better. What confuses me about cheaters for the most part is why they even bother getting into committed relationships in the first place. I don't understand the huge moral outrage around cheating. Like, why do you care what your partner does for fun when you aren't around? Why deny the person you love pleasure? It seems needlessly cruel to set expectations of celibacy as like the foundation of your relationship. Like 2 people are rarely the same level of horny. One of them is gonna want to have sex when the other doesn't. Why would you forbid then from ficking someone else if they're down and you're not? Like, it doesn't mean they love you any less. They just are hornier then you are.

So yea I feel like Dale knows and just doesnt want to spark that intitial flame and cause the explosion that the situation could and would ineviatably create for the Gribble family

You hate Nancy in ‘Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow’? I actually think it’s one of her better John Redcorn episodes, since she’s incredibly hesitant to rekindle the relationship. The only reason she even considers doing it again ends up being because she finds out the stress is causing her hair to literally fall out, and her career as a weather woman would be in jeopardy if she went bald. But, in the end, her love for Dale prevented her from being able to go through with it, and she ultimately chooses potential baldness over Redcorn. Idk, always felt she was pretty reasonable in this one. If anything, John Redcorn is the problem with that episode. After they gave him a whole arc about getting over Nancy and choosing to let her go after growing a genuine connection, it just seems weird that he’d suddenly come on so strong and insistent on her cheating on Dale with him again. ESPECIALLY after Dale had just helped him find his new career as a children’s singer just an episode or so before. Just seemed like they kinda erased all that development for the sake of the story, since it doesn’t really work the same if John Redcorn is also hesitant to rekindle the affair

I always felt that this episode was originally written as a two parter but the writers were then told to cut it down to make it a single episode. Also I feel the whole Nancy drinking thing was because she didn’t have her normal home life responsibilities so she was cutting loose but didn’t realize she was taking it to far.

the few times I ever saw this show I always thought that the dribbles balanced each other out. nancy balanced out dale's sheer need for his insane schemes and ideas by keeping him from killing himself and in return his everything kept her more grounded in reality and kept her from becoming absolutely hellbound to destroy the lives of her "competition" while trying to get higher and higher in her field of work. it is a co-dependence relationship that for all the horror of what it is works because of it.

Gotta love the irony that his insane theories and behaviors involving aliens, time travel, clones, etc., help keep Nancy grounded in reality. A small, sometimes subtle and sometimes not at all subtle, part of what made this show hilarious.

I will say, the one thing I love about Nancy and Dale's relationship is it's not what it appears on the surface which definitely makes it feel more real. On the surface, one might think that Nancy is out of Dale's league because she's a beautiful, smart woman who has a good head on her shoulders whereas Dale, while not exactly ugly, is a scrawny, balding weirdo who is erratic and boorish. However, when you look into it, it's actually Dale that's out of Nancy's league - he's a fantastic father and husband and would do anything for her and Joseph, whereas Nancy appears to be a charming, kind person but she really isn't. She's self-absorbed, manipulative, narcissistic and cheats on Dale with John Redcorn and feels no remorse, despite Dale's constant love and affection towards her and Joseph (despite Joseph not being his biologically). Despite the fact that I hate Nancy and John Redcorn, they're good characters because they add realism and complexity to the show - there are plenty of love triangles like this in real life, and it makes you admire Dale more despite his flaws (though admittedly I'm a little biased because I love Dale, he's my favorite character). It makes the show better because it shows just how brilliant King Of The Hill really is. The characters all feel real and human, and even the characters who you're supposed to hate (Nancy, Peggy, John Redcorn, Cotton, Kahn, etc.) are relatable because they have a backstory and their entire characters don't revolve around them being assholes just for the sake of being assholes. Every character serves a purpose to tell a story as opposed to entertain in an over the top, shallow and offensive way with nothing but sex, gore and humor that relies on shock value like say, Family Guy.

No remorse ??? C'mon,?? Nancy felt guilt and shame for her infidelity almost the whole time she was doing it , She looked for filling the gab of dale not sleeping with her and prefer to focused on his conspiracies, by having an affair with john redcorn, but the thing with that it didn't really satisfy because she was miserable, after every encounter she felt dirty , She only was really happy after Nancy's boys episode when she ended the affair and dale showed her how much he loves her , she even decided to renew her marriage vows , because she was remorseful of breaking her old vows , Nancy is a flawed woman, very flawed, but she "unlike John redcorn " doesn't play victim, she own her wrong doings , and actually feel regrets about them , Remember the female exterminator episode? When she thought dale was gonna have sex with that other woman , she was jealous as fu×k , but didn't stop dale because she thought she deserves it for what she did ,"even tho dale didn't know about the affair she had"

Nancy to me is one of the most dislikeable characters on the show, but I still feel some sympathy for her. Also given a few episodes, I've come to find John Redcorn more frustrating. In the end, she did choose to be with Dale and Joseph after all. I'd say that in the end, she feels more like a real character to me than... well, someone like Amy from Futurama.

Huh, what a fun and well designed video. Maybe this episode would of done great as a two-parter? Dale steadily growing more unhinged as he does crazier and crazier things, and Nancy becoming drunk with power. Could've even used their kid as a crux point for Peggy to show the inevitable downfall of both Dale and Nancy recklessly pursuing their own ideas.

Hiya Shady! Long time viewer. While I can’t say much about National news media, I can say that from the local news perspective that what Nancy did in changing the story wouldn’t be allowed. Yes news stories can change but because she was in a public school talking to a student and making a observation that implies that students are not safe that would cause some serious backlash in terms of working with that news station anymore. If you were there at the school, talking to a student in a classroom about a possum and how cute it is you stay to that story. For reference: I’m a news producer and work with many reporters.

@@theMightyWhytey There's a lot to unpack there, but I'll try and break it down. -I dropped out to take a job at a paper, so make of that what you will. -They teach it, moreso than actual writing/reporting. Journalism school is mostly about learning how not to get sued for slander/libel. -Markets can be a major problem. We're competing with other papers to get the story out first and fast, and we're competing with high online traffic. Sensationalizing stories for clicks is commonplace in the industry. -Another huge problem is that we rely so much on advertising that we have to be very careful about not offending our advertisers. If a company is dumping waste in the lake, that's a big story, but if they buy precious ad space, it blunts your ability to fully report on it. This is a huge problem for corporate-owned papers. There's a reason The Washington Post doesn't touch Bezos. -I strive to maintain my ethics in everything I do. There's been times where I've faced temptation, but I think I've done a good job of staying on the straight-and-narrow and doing the right thing.

I'd hope I'm probably wrong because I can attest that extremist beliefs (religious and political) have fucked over the world for the last 120 years at least, but not the moderate faiths, and I'd welcome that as a talking point rather than wading through a sea of counter-extremism.
